5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. Watching the sevice from the car in DM's village, then on to Henley where we caught the last 20 minutes of that one. We would have got out of the car but DM having had a couple of snifters before we went out was somewhat unsteady on her pins so was safer sitting down
2. Had a carp lunch out, with full refund for the very salty ham (DM loves salt on her food but even she said it was inedible) cold, hard fried eggs and terrible chips served on cold plates, followed by rock hard waffle which had been mw'd too high and too long so that the fork wouldn't go through it! They also refunded the cost of our drinks and gave us a voucher for £10. I should think so too!
3. Went into McK@ys, the only reasonably priced shop in Henley (all the others are terribly expensive 'salons' or boutique-type places, DM found a gorgeous blouse reduced from £35 to £10. It suits her well and fits perfectly
4. DB got DM a new cooker, small with two rings a grill and an oven for under £100, her old one was on its last legs and very temperamental. She lost patience with it and turned to frozen ready meals which she didn't enjoy, so we hope/think this may restore her love of cooking.
5. So very, very grateful I got home in one piece, the most horrific crash on the M25 involving four cars in the fast lane (where I usually like to be but today my God was watching over me and I was in lane 2), the middle two barely recognisable. It must only just have happened as the emergency services hadn't even arrived. Felt a bit sick and shaken all the way home, and am praying that the people involved are all okay. Not a pleasure but it made everyone drive at a safe speed and distance after that.
6. Got home to find DNeighbour's DD (13) had been in and let the mogs and dog out, and fed them. She's a good girl
Don't forget to tell your family you love them. Sleep tight
eta cross for you DD. As Kittikins said she should only get those calls on her mobile, I hope you've told her. Hugs x0 -
Evening all
Thanks Ampersan - i shall have to find it somewhere else
Kittikins - honey roast parsnips, eh? Ah well, each to their own
Frith - hope you remembered to write YUM on your pieremember - it's the law! :rotfl:
For today
1 Nice sleep with some wierd dreams though. Slept for about 9 hours which was bliss
2 OH and I went shopping for curtains, which aren't very MSE but lovely and a change for us to have something so patterned. Haven't put them up now but one thing at a time, I guess.
3. Bacon sandwich for lunch. My WW points meant I should have had soup but s0d it. After eating out for 3 nights this week I am happy to be only about 20 points over this week. And with going to Korea on THursday I think I'd better start again when I get back.
4. Spent 2 hours in the garden - clearing bean poles and corn and tomato plants (no surprises for me though CCP) and then clearing up the leaves. ALthough some are falling off the tree faster than I can clear them.
5 Clean sheets on the bed.:T
Have a good evening everybody.
Edit - Sparrer, thank goodness you are OK. We were once held up for 4 hours on the M6, a couple of seconds sooner and we might have been held up for ever. Shakes you to the core.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

I am really looking forward to next weekend. I had to work yesterday, extra long as someone called in sick. but next weekend is my week end off.. and plan on doing ... nothing but chilling and reading, and maybe some packing.. or if we are really lucky.. unpacking lmao. just waiting for the exchange.... :Ttoday's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

1) Rather tired, as we went to a live band thing last night and, as we travelled a long way, didn't get in until 2 am! It wasn't very money saving but it was a great experience and I got to meet one of OH's colleagues and her husband.
2) Took Sunday School this morning and as usual it was a real pleasure. Had to reconcile the story of Jesus choosing the first disciples with Remembrance Sunday but since they gave up everything to go with him and faced some pretty hostile situations later on, it all came together. I was pleased to find out how well the local schools had prepared the children.
3) Have had some more of the family embroideries framed and it's giving me enormous pleasure looking at them. They're all lined up on the sofa, waiting for DH to put them up.
4) Made some lemon curd this evening for my step-dad, who is the man with everything when it comes to Christmas presents. I've found that if I sterilise it and keep it in the fridge, it lasts a long time.
5) Long chat with DD about coming home for Christmas and so on. Have also been able to arrange a date for family to come over for her birthday, so I am taking a leaf out of the More With Less cookbook and am simply going to do an enormous chilli, rice and a green salad, with dahl for the vegetarians and one (birthday) cake for dessert rather than going all out with large lumps of meat, which were never my strong point.
Wishing you all peace.0 -
Evening, my five for Sunday:
1. Got four loads of sports kit washed and partly dried on the line. It's been doing well indoors with the magic dehumidifier helping (it's on long term loan now, I haven't had to buy one).
2. Stuck to the eating plan and didn't give in even though, today, I felt a bit hungry.
3. My energy levels feel a bit better which always happens when I go wheat free.
4. NSD and NPD
5. Sunny, clear sky all day. Lovely.
Sweet dreams

Big Warm Welcome cornishchick - Delia's Frugal Food is a longtime fave of mine. Potage Flamande is superlicious and perfect@this time of year; excellent freezer recipe, too.
1. Back from gym.
2. Bath running.
3. Surprised to catch a late afternoon ceremony at town memorial and streets were busy with police and pedestrians, a parade over.
4. AB's beat Scotland[sorry, dd]but the Saltire waved high and proud - first and last try to you and a 3-try total against us, unknown since times prelapsarian.
[pause while I...]
5. ...checked bath AND TURNED TAPS OFF IN TIME, just! Careful plug extraction and level now where it ought to be. First hairwash since college colour and red streak renewal will be lovely.
