Evening, all. Remember me?
Sorry I haven't be on the forum for a while - I've been feeling a bit off-colour, and I'm trying to avoid using my home computer too much as my computer chair's broken and gives me a bad back, and the new one I bought is faulty. (I must remember to have a 'discussion' with Amaz0n about that on Monday - they're trying the old 'you have to sort it out with the manufacturer' line, which any MSE'r knows isn't true.
)
I've got a bit of catching up to do, but:
VJSmum and Frith - I hope both your dads are much better now, or even sooner.
Kittkins - it sounds like your move went well, and I'm glad you and DD are happy in your new home.
luvvie - welcome to the thread! :hello: Please do stay - we always need more nice people on here.
1) A very long lie-in this morning. Mog was being a miaow monster from 4am onwards, so I eventually kicked him outside, went back to bed, and didn't wake up again until nearly 11.
2) Managed to write two thirds of my latest essay, despite the late start and a dodgy computer chair.
3) My DM sent me a photo of the flowers I bought her for her birthday - they're really pretty and spring-coloured (white, yellow and purple, like crocuses).
4) Picked up a couple of bottles of cider cheap while shopping this morning, so one of those will make a nice treat when I've finished typing this.
5) Pizza for dinner tonight - not HM, but at least a supermarket deli one is more MS than a takeaway.
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Frith- pleased that things are a bit better :cuddle:
VJsmum - hope you can have some precious time with your dad soon and good luck for the journey home xx
Mine for today/parts of yesterday
1. Billy was fab last night. He faltered a bit at the start and the room felt a bit tense, but he soon picked up and was back on his usual formLots of swearing and although I am prone to the odd sweary word, I don't really like it, but I managed to see through it and enjoy the show and had lots of much-needed laughs. Late night and I was flagging a bit towards the end and dozed half of the way home (missed a nosy fox in front of the car. Boo!!)
2. Up at 6.30 this morning, which did not feel like much of a pleasure at the time, but I do like to be up and about before the rest of the world (probably) and to get the ponios all done and dusted. They behaved- oldie was complaining loudly about everything, but nothing new there
3. I spent my M&S vouchers on a birthday pressie for Dad (sorry chicken :P ) They were "free" from spending (incl booking a hol) on our CC (we pay it off every month). Apparently, 60-something year old men can never have too many pairs of Blue Harbour jeans (or at least this one can't)
4. Tales from the 'rents, who are away helping their friends with lambing- lambs being born every minute. I am v v v jealous!! Mum is bottle feeding...awwww. I have instructed her to get lots of photos
5. Friend was worried about what she was going to buy for her SIL's birthday, so I offered to make something (jewellery) for her. I owe said friend a favour, because she is just lovely, so it is nice to be able to help.
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
eta CCP - cross-posted. Hope you manage to get your chair sorted ASAP! I love a glass of cider - we are taking the students to Weston's cider mill on Friday for a treat. I always volunteer to go as we get to do a taste test!! Enjoy0
-
Millie - I really wish I was one of your students, is all I can say! I'm obviously studying the wrong subject, as there's no cider trips on my course.Back after a very long break!0

Dadwatchers - saw him yesterday 7-8pm and he was up and about, eating, drinking, chatting. He is having 2 different types on antibiotics IV BUT the cellulitis was spreading. :-( They had gone round the nasty area with marker pen and it had spread a couple of inches beyond their line (i.e his entire lower leg at the front) then some more infection had popped up at the top of his leg.
But today mum and sister saw him and brother is going later and the infection has not gone beyond that I saw. In fact, at the knee end of the marker pen line, it is going away...
Anyway 5 or so for today...
... with the news first that I got very stressed on the drive to hospital. Selfish really when my legs are fine! I got stressed to the point that I was not sure I could remember how to drive the car (!), couldn't negotiate the car park, gave up on fathoming how to get a car park ticket entirely. And I've felt pretty "blllllaaaaaaaaargh" ever since.
Onwards...
1) Left my sons with OH (and his sons) and came home to find my bigger son had gone off in a semi-strop and was playing outside and his bigger son had shut his wrist in some handcuffs. OH had borrowed a hacksaw from the neighbour and was working his way through the metal. :-D
2) Had about 12 minutes sleep and decided to raise various issues with OH at about 1am in a rather random, very stressed and grumpy way. But we survived.
3) Bacon butties for breakfast.
4) Phone call from mum to say dad is improving a bit.
5) Went to the millennium green with the boys which they liked. Most of them. Most of the time!
6) Looking forward to tomato soup for tea then Casualty.0 -
Good evening all !
CCP -thought that you had gone off on a cruise (not a Costa one!!) with your winnings. Glad you are back x
PK - get well now please x I reckon you have crashed and burned after all of that stress with the house, jobs, your Dad ...
Millie - didn't resort to Pj's in M&S then??
5 for today
1. Hair cut - no longer a Dulux dog .
2. OH gave me back the money he owed me
3. Friend collected her hens who have had a 2 week holiday here. She had a fab time in Canada and they had a fab time here.
4. Asking my neighbour nicely , well telling him that we all had our washing on the line at 9.30am and could he kindly put his bonfire out!!! I am the sort to go RAAAAA ! if necessary but he wouldn't look at me , said sorry and and put it outIf not I would have thrown a bucket of water over it !!
5.Just about to have fillet steak for tea - woo hoo !
Have a great evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
1) finding a lovely picture of a hen saying to her chicks 'I'm the mummy, that's why!' for £2 in the CS. Now in my kitchen
2) different CS, tartan scarf in brand new condition, 50p, perfect for lining the Scottish hamper I'm putting together for my uncle's 80th
3) found another 10p (5 + 2 + 3*1) on the walk home for my road kill jar
4) getting my glasses fixed for free and very quickly (and cleaned as a bonus) by the optician after I bent the arm shutting them in the drawer (I only put them in the drawer so they'd be safe while I unpacked the Lidl shop grrrrrr)
5) making 2 very nice meals from left overs: pasta thing for lunch and shepherd's pie for supper :T
