    Evening

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Got organised this morning and put a chicken casserole in the slow cooker. Shame it smelt a bit like sweaty socks and didn't taste much better when we had it for dinner:eek:
    2. Managed to do a training walk at lunchtime. It should have been 3 miles but a foot path I used had been closed so finished up a 4 miles. The last mile was done rather quickly, must remember not to drink so much tea before going for a walk:o
    3. Naughty but nice sausage roll at lunch time, yummy
    4. Nice glass of wine with dinner, needed something to take the taste away
    5. Reading with DD this evening, enjoying this time with her.

Hugs to all who need them

5 quickly as it seems no son is going to go to sleep but instead both will interupt me forever...

    1) Smaller son had a day off school. I think he has had perhaps 5 days off since he started in 2007 and had 100% attendance over 2 years so it's a rare event. He seemed ill this morning but was fine by 10am.

    2) Took a bottle of the weird birch sap wine down to the lady who collected me the birch sap. I hope she enjoys it. Hmmmmm.

    3) Went to Sainsburys and paid (not MS) to have the car washed.

    4) Popped to mum and dad's where smaller son played on the trampoline and I had a cup of tea.

    5) Went into local town and bought smaller son a new pair of school shoes as the side (!) had worn out of his.

    6) Texts from OH.

Given up on this evening, though. The plan was for sons to be in bed before 8 but it turned into a 2 hour bedtime shambles. :-(

Sorry about my dodgy typing this morning :o Haven't got used to the phone yet.

Old Tractor - sorry you are feeling low - I am looking forward to March happening and am currently resenting the leap year as it means another February day. I know it doesn't really make any difference, but mentally it seems to.

Millie - That reminds me that I have to get my hair cut.

    So for today

    1. Lovely lesson with what is fast becoming my favourite group. It went well and they seemed to appreciate it. One of my colleagues said "Oh are you off to Part time 4 - they absolutely love you!" :T
    2. During said lesson one student expressed disbelief that I could have a 15 year old daughter. He was clearly having me on - but a girl likes to hear these things anyway, and he amuses me lots.
    3. Yummy tuna salad for lunch - spring must be coming if I want salad.
    4. Some reasonable whoopsies from Mr M - prawns, salmon, pancakes and potato cakes, one of which I will have with a fried egg for brekkie tomorrow.
    5. Made a cloak for DD's dress up day on Thursday (yes, the self same 15 year old DD - dressing up, I ask you!). She is going as phantom of the opera and the cloak looks damn good if I say so myself. Love an excuse to sit with sewing machine and do stuff, whilst watching carp on TV. Luckily a local fancy dress shop had a mask for 30p! The whole ensemble is rather effective.

Last day of Feb. tomorrow - Yippppeeeeeee
I wanna be in the room where it happens

DundeeDoll - just wondered ( marvelled actually ) at the amount that you have in your roadkill pot already this year . I have 21p ?? How is this?:)
    !

I know, amazed myself. Careful peering at ground revealed £1.18 jan, the largest coin being one 10p. then feb started with 3pounds in as many days followed by a tenner, but i found that in a building and it was claimed. A week later i found another tenner under a park bench. No obv place to hand in so into the jar. Last year was £13.44 over whole year so doing v. Well this year :T

    Hope chcikens now settled.

    1) spent wonderful day showing friend from cambridge lots of free things in edinburgh - weaving exhibition, national museum of scotland, princes gardens, royal mile to name a few :j
    2) very filling lunch in mosque kitchen £14.20 for both of us including drinks :p
    3) meeting DD1 and DD2 in national museum and getting to play on all the kids stuff :rotfl:
    4) unexpectedly meeting another friend i havent seen for a while
    5) getting my friend to try haggis

Hugs to all. Pedometer says nearly 23k steps. I'm bushed!

  • hello everyone,

    1. really enjoyed the warm sunshine. can't believe its Feb.

2 walked part way from school to car (unfortunately too far for DS2 to walk 2 miles and both DS1 and DS2 keen to walk more so we part drive/walk when time allows) boys skipped along happily like 2 spring lambs and several passersby smiled at our little group. also means I get double the exercise.

3 lovely day helping in DS2 class, get attached to the children (reception class) quickly.

    4. easy comfort tea of jackets and cheesy beans

5 looked through a few (there are hundreds) of boys' baby photos as DS2 needs to take a baby pic to class tomorrow. boys wanted to see them all but think was partly another ploy to extend bedtimes so told them we will get them out again at weekend. they looked so beautiful and DH and I had a 'moment' looking at our boys, the photos and each other and everything felt right with the world for that precious little bubble of time.

    6. had some really good news about DH job - we have been worried for over a year about redundancies. already made 2 rounds of voluntary redundancies and come August may make compulsary redundancies. however today DH was told that a promotion is hopefully on the cards, could take a while like everything there but good news for CV, some sort of modest pay rise (we could really make good use of that) and most importantly sounds like his job is safe as least for a while. fingers and toes crossed.

sitting here typing in the dark as DH wants to sleep and CBA to take lappy downstairs and get out of warm bed. my touch typing isn't too bad to my surprise but I have had a few weird words which I've corrected and my grammer's a bit dodgy but can't remember all the keys. wanted to reply to some posts but sorry my brain can't cope with this any more so will leave until tomorrow and switch off

    night night all

DundeeDoll, do pedometers really work? I've wondered about getting one for ages because I'm far too sedentary and need to do something about it and I like the idea of having numbers that show improvement (hence me and NSDs working, I think!)

Skint yet Again, thanks. DS1's already doing a day a week on their casual pay roll but this offer is for a proper part time job. Since he was known to them it made applying much easier. It's hard though for all young people at the moment. Fingers crossed for your DS if he's still looking.

    My five pleasures for Tuesday:

    1. Managing to scrape together enough edible packed lunch food to see us through the day without having to resort to the shops. Which leads to...

    2. My last NSD for this month.

    3. Going looking for smart clothes with DS2 because he's going to need something for an event that he's going to (but it was only for trying on purposes and we didn't buy anything :D). It's the first time I've seen him in a suit.:) We think we might have found something very respectable that is really not too expensive and his grandparents are funding this so that's really helpful.

    4. Some very appreciative emails from parents I've been helping recently.

    5. Just generally having a day which has felt like there were more steps forwards than back. Maybe things are picking up again? Hope so.:D

    Sweet dreams

Broomstick, pedometer working for me. I live very close to my work and there is little opportunity to walk when there (tried walking round office once and got very odd looks). Pedometer is Omron http://www.amazon.co.uk/Omron-Walking-Style-One-Technology/dp/B0012PH5LE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1330501659&sr=8-2 £9.23 and just clips on my belt. I didnt bother calibrating it as i'm just interested in NHS target of 10,000 steps per day. My sister has one where a little stick man jumps up and down days you do get to 10k. I normaly just squeak the 10k, but this week on holibags with friend who likes to walk, so yesterday nearly 24k and day before 18k. Howver, as i say, aim this year is 10k per day. Often finish work with several k still to do so walk down to meet OH who greets me with 'so how may left?' then plans route home accordingly :T

Hello, from just-right'sville! Been a pleasant enough day ,bit overcast and now started raining.

1.Had a good night's sleep & a nice drive to work, though cloudy the hot air balloons were out. Starting to get lighter, later as we move into autumn. Today is officially the last day of summer.

2.Crazy day at work again, had fully intended being out the door promptly but fire alarm went off 20 mins before shift ended and we were stuck outside for 20 minutes! So that idea went out the window!

3.Had to buy a new parking permit which whilst certainly not cheap will pay for itself in 48 1/2 days! Instead of paying $5 a day for a year.

4.Listened to Miss Saigon CD in car (one of my $1.99 bargains at op shop) I went to see it many years ago ( before John Barrowman was famous) and do have the CD somewhere in a box. So have been belting out the songs on my drive to & from work, with no-one else to tell me to turn it down!

5.Son being chatty & telling me about his day, he had been on a cinema trip in the city with school, travelling independantly & then a group of them going for a Chinese meal for lunch.....has to beat burger & chips!

6.Right now DD2 is tidying her room in anticipation of her birthday .....she is belting out songs ......hmmm, wonder where that comes from!

7.Next trip home being planned, hopefully will get booked soon then I can start counting down the (many) weeks!

    Have a lovely day!
