5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Hello all
Yesterday's pleasures.......
1. I moved house
2. My lovely parents and brother did a sterling, uncomplaining job in helping me finish the seemingly never-ending packing and cleaning of my 'old' house. We all worked well together and it was remarkably stressfree.
3. I LOVE our bungalow, and DD loves her new bedroom
4. I felt good that I had scrimped over the last month and so didn't have a financial overhang this payday for once in a blue moon, so was able to give my brother his train fare plus a little extra to say thank you.
5. For the same reason I was also able to take us all out for dinner at a yummy place
6. Even better, I got a 20% discount at said dinner place as my company staff pass gives me a few local discounts, hoorah!
7. All hail Br!tish Telecom who smoothly moved my phone number and broadband service over to my new home. I'd heard so many horror stories about how long they generally take, but maybe it was easier as I've kept the same phone number (as I've moved such a short distance)
8. All hail R0yal Mail who have started my postal redirection service without any hiccups.
9. My lovely friend C swooped in and picked up DD for me and had her for a little bit so that we could beaver away with getting DD's bedroom in a fit state - DD's been so excited about the decor in her new room and so we wanted the first time she saw it when it was her room to be with her bed all made up and her new bedside table in situ.
10. Really thankful that despite all the lifting and walking and running up and down stairs yesterday, I was still able to walk by the end of the day, and now, at nearly 3am, I'm just a little tired, nothing that a nice hot shower won't cure in the morning.
11. Did I mention I LOVE my new place?!?
12. Lovely texts from a chum wishing me well in the move
13. Met my very sweet neighbour, I only really have neighbours on one side and at the back who my dad met whilst putting stuff in my garden, DD and I will pop over and meet him and his wife properly soon.
14. Our first housewarming gift, very cute and it'll be put up in the porch
Right, I've got a cold/chesty thing threatening to start, so please send healing thoughts my way as I need to be fit for my operation!!0 -
Kittikins - so pleased that you love the new house and the move seems to have gone very smoothly.
1. Had lunch looking out over the sea - I was working but had to change schools I was working in so took advantage of nice weather.
2. Did a reverbe and found 5p.
3. Lovely walk in the light with my dog after work - I love the days becoming longer.
4. DS1 ringing and he's much better with virtually no pain in his back and leg.
5. Tea from slow cooker so all readt when I wanted to eat.0 -
PK - welcome back - you were missed x sorry to hear about the ailments and job uncertainty . I have my fingers crossed for you !
kittikins -congratulations - you did it! You have been so organised over the last few months, packing and freecycling stuff . Enjoy your new home x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Chicken - Dave was fab, I haven't laughed so much in ages- he is definitely one of my faves
There were some recycled jokes from last time, but they were just as funny the second tume around!
(shhhhhh - whisper) I havent' got any left
You can go off people, you know :rotfl:I ended up with an acute case of marking rage yesterday when I detected plagiarism in the same student for the nth time. Raaaah!!0 -
Kittikins: I hope you & Miss Kitty will be very happy in your new home!
Purple Kitten: Hope you both feel better soon ,what rotten news about your job but hopefully you'll get something else soon & hope your dad gets well soon too.
Thursday and a new month too.....my favourite month of the year! (if only it were spring here, but I do like autumn too ,so will just have to make the most of my topsy turvy world!)
1.So busy at work today, we literally had our busiest day ever & whilst it certainly physically felt like it is good to know we are doing the right thing that people keep coming back! Met, a new baby boy today who last time I saw his mum he wasn't born, a real cutie.
2.And I got away (almost) on time! Went along our wee town & had a wander round shops with DD1.
We had bought 2 school books in op shop ages ago but we had already bought them second hand for DD1, however they were so cheap I thought we'd hang on to them & ebay them next year. One of her friends has changed subjects & just happened to need them so......sold them at a mighty profit!( but still half of what they would be new) I gave her some of the cash! Then bought a lovely coat in Salvos for $9.99, a light weight double breasted 3/4 length mac style , which is rather nice! Also bought 3 pieces of art work that caught my eye. Really nice frames & lovely pictures...and a book!
3.Got a RTC chicken (still costs a lot more than back home, I have no idea why chicken is so expensive here) so that's in oven, along with RTC spuds,RTC parsnips! Then we are having rhubarb (from freezer ,was RTC) crumble & RTC custard! I would normally make my own however ,it was a bargain & I might make a trifle for DD2's birthday on Saturday. All smells nice, anyway.
4.Been a lot milder again, was very wet this morning but is now breezy but dry. Got a washing on line & fingers crossed it will be dry. I felt happy driving home with my window down, usually too hot to have it down & noticed lots of other drivers had theirs down too!
5.Kids had a non uniform day at school, collection for charity so yay to one less lot needing washed! DD2 got her script for her school production today.
Think that's me! Oh number 6: my mum emailed me photos of my great niece this morning, she is almost 5 months old & just lovely.
Have a lovely start to March, just think another few weeks & you'll have light nights & I'll be dark at teatime !
eta: I had a $10 supermarket voucher (reward points) so used that when I bought my chicken last night!0 -
I'm new on here so be gentle..
Mine for yesterday were..
1. Recovering an old 'poo' brown office chair destined for recycle with some lovely blue gingham fabric that I found in the loft. I'd totally forgotten that I had it. Really pleased with how it turned out and it fits into my new office beautifully.
2. I painted a hall stand that I got from fleabay and gave a mirror a quick coat of paint too.
3. I definitely had the painting bug yesterday because I then had a flash of inspiration and painted a letter rack that I was going to throw in the bin. It looks lovely now and very 'shabby chic' (but I think that's possibly due to my painting skills)
4. Making savoy cabbage, bacon and cheese pasta for tea. Something that I thought would be a bit  in taste but ended up being rather :j. Had to come up with a recipe to use up the 39p Aldi cabbages.
5. I actually managed to make a phone call that I have been putting off for a month (and felt rather smug with myself when I had done it.)
Today...
1. Finish painting my hall stand
2. Tart up my letter rack with a little bit of wallpaper decoupage
3 Going out tonight to watch a friend's theatrical extravaganza!!
4. This means an extra long soak in the bath. A chance to wear something nice, do my hair & make up and put on a pair of heels. Will be lovely to see my other friends too. Can't wait.
5. I had a call and something I ordered a while ago is ready for collection so I'm a little bit excited about getting to pick it up (is it sad for a grown woman to get excited about picking up a mug? Ermmm probably best not to answer that!)
Have a stupendous day xx0 -

Luvvie - welcome!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
:hello: Hiya Luvvie
I think this might be one of the gentlest places on the whole of the forum so it's a good place to be if you are looking for 'gentle'
