hello! Sunday bedtime here, just had a text from my manager asking me to start 2 hours earlier tomorrow! Yay! to money, nay! to early start!

1.Sunday scone & papers. I have given up diet cola drinks ! Drank far too much of the stuff, have done for years and decided enough was enough. So have been cold turkey all week . Drank money saving water today.

2.Home , read the riot act with my children about general untidiness. DD1 was in tears as I was raising my voice (obviously I don't do it often enough!) and I don't think I was loud. They are all old enough to take responsibility for their own mess......7 empty bottles of different shampoo/conditioner in their bathroom and I am supposed to know at a glance that they need more. Anyway rounded it off with a very amusing email from their granny & a family hug!

3.Lots of washing & ironing done. Good day to get it all dried. Generally tidied/packed/de-cluttered for move.

4.Lovely lunch of salad ...which had the first of DD2's HG lebanese cucumber....what you would call a cucumber in UK they call Continental cucumbers and a lebanese one is about half the size but tastes very similar & very yummy. New garden has 3 veggie patches! Also had nachos & frittata using up veggies in fridge.

5.Had a wee snooze ,well fell asleep reading a book! Then finished the book, it was such a nice story I didn't want it to end.

6.Tea of quiche & soup from yesterday & I used up apples & pears that no-one was eating in a sponge for pudding.

    7. I went to Aldi this morning & very mindful that we are very short of cash for next 10 days spent 1/2 what I normally would. There is plenty in cupboards & freezer so just needed fresh stuff.
  • Not done my five OS pleasures for a week or so, so here are yesterdays :)

    1. Got the call to say our flat application has been accepted and my OH and I move out (for the first time, yay!) on the 27th Jan which is two days after our six year anniversary. I am 24, and so ready to move out of my parents house so glad its finally happening.

    2. Although it has been really cold, it is nice was nice and bright outside - looked like Spring from the window!

    3. Got to lovely Ikea bedside tables for much cheaper than their RRP on eBay, been doing really well on getting things on a budget.

    4. Made a chicken curry with OH, used a jared sauce which we got free with a coupon a couple of months ago, chicken from the freezer and left over lime pickle from the fridge. Was lovely!

    5. NSD & NPD :D
  • Cinnamon buns sound fantastic... They go on the ikea list now, along with the diam cake.
Miss emmajane, congratulations on your first flat together.

    For yesterday
Made a batch of very mild chilli from RTC Mince, and enough left over for another 2 meals.
With the fat drained off from the mince DH made fat balls for the garden
    Properly cleaned out the lounge.
Watching the animals try and suss out the treat kong, having a great time, we re-discovered the kong buried in the garage from when we had a GSD.

    Evening all.

I've had a seriously aggravating day today: I wanted to put my new Ik*ea table together, but discovered that it's held together with pegs not screws so I need a hammer - which I haven't got. I went to set up my new stereo system instead but, after 20 irritating minutes trying to programme radio stations, I decided that either the instructions are wrong or I'm reading them incorrectly - I've emailed the manufacturer's support service for help, but of course they're not open on Sunday so I won't get an answer until at least tomorrow. Then I went to change the bed, but discovered I haven't got any clean sheets so I couldn't do that either. So I'm back on the forum by default... ;)

    1) A nice long lie-in this morning, once I'd kicked mog outside so I could get a bit of peace. (He paid me back by biting me when I finally let him back inside, though. :()

    2) Cold pizza for brunch - it's the best part of a takeaway pizza to my mind.

    3) I was chatting on the phone to my DM when she mentioned that she fancied visiting Ik*ea, so we're going to have a day out in Southampton together next month. :)

    4) Having had a couple of days off from cooking I'm rather looking forward to putting together tonight's dinner - a mushroom and lentil wellington adapted from a recipe given to me by a forumite last year, which I haven't made in ages.

    5) Writing a review on Amaz0n for a DVD my DSis gave me for Christmas - it's not the film she or I thought it was, so I hope my review will stop anyone else making the same mistake and wasting money on a really bad film. :(

PK - what a great idea to use fat from cooking to make fat balls - I'll have to try that when I eventually get round to buying a new bird table. (I've been intending to get one since at least this time last year. :o)

miss_emmajane - yay at your #1 - how exciting for you both! :j

ampersand - I can't imagine that the answer to the question "What have I done?" will be anything other than "something wonderful" - have a fantastic time. :)

scotrae - many congrats on getting back in your car - I may hate mine, but I can't imagine being without one altogether. Enjoy your re-found freedom (as I'm sure you will).

I hope everyone's had a very pleasant day.
Back after a very long break!

I don't often post on the pleasures thread anymore, but as it has been one of those days, I'm in need of trying to find the positives. Here goes:

    1. A nice easy tea. I've got one of those throw everything in a bag kits in the cupboard so now everything is in and it's cooking away. I've not had a lot of luck with potatoes in sauce baking in the oven, so I hope it works (probably won't, given the day I've had!)
    2. I'm keeping up with the "drink 2l water a day" I started and I am feeling better about my skin as a result.
    3. I'd lost a fraction of a lb according to the Wii Fit this morning. Admittedly, doing the balance test with hiccups is interesting...
    4. Had a good talk with a friend yesterday and really "put a bit of the world to rights".
    5. Tomorrow is Monday. The start of another week, which will be better.

Sorry to ramble. I have 4 avocados in the fridge and am going to use them for beauty treatments as I'm not keen on them I've discovered as a food. They were 4 for £1 so I'm not too worried. I've found face mask recipes, hair mask recipes and I'm going to see if there's one for an avocado foot scrub. That should help.

Can I ask where you got 4 avocados for £1, please? I adore avocados but they're so expensive I rarely buy them. I hope you have a much better day tomorrow.

Hi CCP, they were from a stall on the market in the town centre. He frequently has bowls of different fruit and veg for £1 and you have to turn up and see what he has. According to the MySupermarket website, Asda has 4 baby avocado for £1, but these are bigger.

Thanks, KB - I'll have to try my local market stall at the end of the week (he's only there Thursday to Sunday) and see if he's got any at a more reasonable price. :)
Back after a very long break!
