Good evening all !
oldtractor - Can I have your life please?. Horses, veg plots, woodburner....
vjsmum- I hope that you feel better soon x
frith - horrendous day for you but you got through it xx. It is in the past now , and hope that you have more "goose bums" days with your sons ahead x
ninnoodle - how exciting , moonlight running past spooky mansions.
5 for today
1. End of my working week and count down of four working days next week followed by two weeks annual leave.
2. Attended a productive meeting which was held at lunch time - my stomach usually sounds like an old howling hound after midday much to my embarrassment as I need feeding , but it was fine today.
3.One of the Providers that I work with called me to inform me of an issue that may result in a complaint being made against them by another party. They are renown for being quite difficult to work with but I admire their attention to detail and honesty . I was quite chuffed that they called me about it tbh, as this openess will go in their favour.
4. OH cooked tea. Tagliatelle , chopped toms and cream cheese .
5 Feel really "flat" today and couldn't put a finger on why this could be. But I realised that it is my late fathers birthday tommorrowGlad I know why now and why I have been snivelling at trailers for War Horse x
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Chicken :cuddle: I am always harping on about the significance of anniversaries and such anniversaries are often why we feel a bit out of sorts and can't quite put our finger on it. Knowing why we feel that way doesn't always make it easier, but at least we have a bit more understanding of it. Be kind to yourself tomorrow and remember your Dad xx
Not sure I could manage to watch War HorseIt might be a "wait for DVD" movie, to save me ending up a sobbing wreck in the cinema!!

Chickenopolis I thought you had a log burner? Its sad really; my late parents never understood what I liked; they couldnt understand wanting an open fire or log burner they said it was dirty and caused work; the veg plot wasnt appreciated that much and the horses were money-pits and I should-grow-out-of-it and endess talks trying to get me to sell my [then] horse. Its sad because everyday I wished I could share with them what I feel about all this; its my life ;what I like; I guess they just didnt "do"country life. I still have pangs of guilt and think I'm doing the wrong thing; that I shouldnt be a housewife living in the countryside with all the mud [LOL] etc etc but that I should be a proper suburban "Margot". I think that would have pleased them. I would love to have been able to pleased them and been accepted. I suppose I should let go and move on;enjoying fully what I have striven for and achieved. Difficult when I have only memories of being "told off" for it.0

(((Hugs))) chicken. Think of the good times. Re the detergent sample I was going to suggest 'diluting' it with soda crystals which is what I do with powder, but a bit difficult if yours, like mine, comes in little 'pillows'
Tealady congrats on your #1, a typically womanly action
Scotrae it was nice of you to think of your new neighbour, even if she couldn't make coffee I'm sure your offer made her feel more 'at home'
VJsmum I think we can all relate to the defrosting freezer problem when RTC's are just too tempting! Hope you're feeling better
Mhags do you have a moving date? I don't envy you the work involved but it'll be so worth it
Kittikins so pleased to hear about your Dad
Frith sorry it's hard for you just now, single parenthood isn't easy. Grit your teeth and everyone with think you're smiling
ninnoodle you're so brave! I'd make a ten mile detour rather than have to go past a house like that . I love the way you called it fun!
Purple kitten thanks for the warning of things to come, I'll be wearing my tin hat and flak kacket new time I go into[STRIKE] battle[/STRIKE] Mr A's. Seriously, that's pretty scary
oldtractor it sounds like my sort of day, or was some years ago. You ladies keep talking about your horses please, it brings back some super memories of when the children were, well, children!
Kittikins I'm with you all the way on the no spend effort, just unsubscribed to all the annoying sites which tell me I can save if I spend 'less'. Apart from encouraging me to spend I waste a lot of time just browsing the sites. But no more, I've got better things to do with my time
Millie your #5 sounds perfect. No wine or chocs here but a mug of hot chocolate with squirty cream and some melon will suffice
an urgent phone call to take so back with my 5 shortly0 -
Oldtractor, my mother was like that - for years I'd get birthday and Christmas presents of scarves and court shoes or visits to a medium. I hated them all and never used them. Finally when she was ill and dying she started buying me things she thought I might like and it was lovely. My dad has always tried to get me things he thinks I'll like - the experience of my mum means that I'm always grateful for any gift where thought's been put in to who I am, even if it isn't what I'd have chosen. I never really understood my mother's decisions, but in retrospect I think perhaps she just wanted me to be more like her so we could have been closer, which I suppose isn't an awful thing to want - though it worked much better when she stopped trying to change me. Thanks for the get well's - felt rubbish this morning but forced myself to work and was surprisingly better for it.
So for today
1. Catch up coffee with colleagues - one has been for an interview elsewhere and whilst we don't want her to leave, she would be mad not to take job. The pleasure was the coffee and the b*tch as, when she was talking about management at "new" place, we all realised how badly we are managed.
2. Drove to work - not OS but i could put in my CD and have a good sing song - can't do that on the train
3. Left over "freezer surprise" for tea again. Nut roast "surprise" mash, YS spanish potatoes and green beans. Nearly at the point where i can do an inventory. Freezer suprise will continue next week
4. DS friend's mum (also a friend) has offered DS something for free at the "leisure centre" type business they own (can't say too much as not fair to give them away but it is a really generous thing!) . Not sure we can accept as i don't want to take advantage, but really kind anyway.
5. Finished an awkward document i was struggling with.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
sparrer: we get keys for new place next weekend but as we have paid rent for here for another month (grrrr....but have to give 28 days notice anyway!) we can take our time moving stuff between the 2 houses and get both cleaned to my satisfaction!
An early pleasure : Hurrah it's Friday!0 -
Thanks for the good wishes. Better day today (good thing too!)
Here are my 5 or so.
1) Sons off to school happily enough and just in the nick of time!
2) Porridge, blueberries and bananas for breakfast.
3) Texts between OH and myself improved as the day went on.
4) Walked down to mum and dad's. (About 3 miles).
5) Brother gave me a lift to school to pick up sons.
6) Smaller son had had a much better day ending up in "silver" on the zone board for behaviour.
7) Just read some more Harry Potter.
8) SENCo phoned from school (after tea!) and said the ed psych is coming out next Thursday to assess son. That is much quicker than I thought. She's also referring him back to the Autism team. If I had to place a bet now, I would say they will diagnose him again (3rd time!) and this time will say he is dyslexic but quite bright with selective mutism for no particular reason. His first diagnosis was non-specific learning disability and his second was autistic traits but they weren't sure...
9) Sitting by the stove now doing nothing!0 -
oh dear, wasn't good news - my DM's lovely sister, who is 92 and has had alzheimers for some years, is in hospital diag., with cancer. I know she's had a good long life and all that but seems sad as she's been so happy in her own little world all these years, would have been a much kinder thing if she had just gone to sleep. I feel for her children, my cousins, who she hasn't known for so long, that they now have to cope with this.
However, my 5
1. A bright, sunny day, washing blowing in the breeze. How lucky we are, considering the Jan we were forecast
2. Dug up some more potatoes, will take some to DM when I visit on Sunday and have some with my lunch tomorrow
3. Phoned a friend who is now coming to Chinese NY with her partner and DGD. Will be nice for the DGD's as they're of similar age.
4. nsd/npd
5. All the bedrooms cleaned and just finished the kitchen. The lounge can wait til tomorrow
Sweet dreams

Evening
Chicken - Hugs to you
Frith - Glad you had a better day today and keep pushing for some answers from SENCO
Sparrer - Hugs to you and I hope your aunt isn't in pain
Pleasures for today;
1. Credit card statement for the month coming in less than expected and bank balance being healthy than expected
2. Another free lunch today at work of leftovers from a meeting, we are so lucky at work to have really great caterers.
3. RTC mature cheddar in waitrose, OH has been complaining about the SO half fat cheese I bought this week so this should make him happy
4. Quick dinner of meatballs and pasta before DD went to guides, resisted the very strong urge of a take out
Hugs to all who need them0
