Purple kitten - it was some weird "charades " type thing . Shame as I kind of liked the red uniform:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0

Evening all.
1) Received a free box of breakfast cereal for product trialling. I was expecting a trial-sized pack but they've sent a full-size, large box - I just hope I like the stuff and don't end up throwing half of it away like last time I did a cereal trial. :undecided
2) Treated myself to some posh shower gel using the points on my B00ts loyalty card - usually I just buy whatever's on offer so it's nice to have some really decent stuff for a change.
3) Someone bought some vanilla and honey soap in for the ladies' loos at work, which made the office smell like a creme caramel.(My employer does provide soap but it's that nasty, cheap pink stuff and, when it runs out, one of us has to go and find a caretaker (not necessarily in the same building) and beg them to fill the bottle up again when they have time.
We've now realised it's considerably easier - and nicer - if we all take turns to buy whatever's on special offer and leave it on the side for general use.
)
4) Made too much tomato pasta sauce for dinner so I've diluted the leftovers with some veg stock to make soup for my lunch tomorrow. :money:
5) Watching an episode of the BBC series about ancient Britain, which I somehow missed first time round.
Ladyhawk / Purple kitten - the very best of luck to you both.Back after a very long break!0 -
5 or so for today (Weds).
1) Boys off to school happily and smaller son had swimming.
2) Took brother's dog for a walk.
3) Had lunch at mum and dad's.
4) Watched smaller son's harvest service at school. He doesn't do public speaking so his job was to hand out the programmes on the way in. :-)
5) Made a roast chicken dinner so my sister stopped off on her way home from work to have some. Forgotten how much we all like bread sauce!
6) Lit the fire. Brought another load of firewood in and 2 queen wasps appeared out of this lot!
7) Still introducting new kitten to old cat. No lives lost yet...0 -
Reading the posts from Ladyhawk and Purple Kitten with much interest - gripping stuff! Wishing the best for both of you
Chicken I don't believe one can take animal husbandy too seriously, there's really nothing more important than happy 2/4 legged friends
1. Gave the lawn its (hopefully) final cut of the year, more dead-heading, tying back the espalier Cox, general weeding. Cleaned tools, tidied shed, just got into the house before the rain started
2. My new Tastecard arrived so booked a table for Sunday lunch when I visit DM this weekend. There are several restaurants in her area where it's accepted so we have quite a choice for future visits
3. Postie brought me a sample phial of perfume and an offer from my broadband company which may save me some pennies. Will call them to discuss in the morning
4. Siesta interrupted by the doorbell, a mail delivery which brought a box of spring bulbs I'd forgotten I'd ordered. Back to the garden in the morning, weather permitting
5. The usual good meeting with friends this evening, much laughter over their 'helpfully' giving me various directions to Cambridge for my day out with ampersand. If I took their advice I'd be going round the North Circular, I think
Sleep well

Hello all... gosh, there's a real nip in the air, sat listening to the weather guy on Janice Long (R2), who says it will stay cool for a day or two, then get milder.
1. It isn't OS, but my son put an iPhone for me onto his account and it arrived today. I can think of all sorts of ways it will make my job easier, which is OS, I suppose.
2. I also had the free box of cereal to trial. Caused much hilarity as I thought it was the iPhone, which arrived shortly afterwards... opened the unmarked outer box with such excitement, then bemusement!
3. My friend has sold her house. She is putting in an offer on a small ground floor flat, which will be so much easier to manage for her, as she lives on her own.
4. Some free toiletries - samples of shampoo, and some body butter to trial. Not enormous samples, but welcome.
5. Making my version of coddle with a cheese scone topping, an old favourite revived.
I've done a scenario interview - or part interview- but mine was a bit different. It was for an e-tutoring/ ICT teacher's post. We were given a scenario of a learner wanting to study a subject, and had to use the educational database to identify suitable courses from our portfolio, to create a suitable learning plan. I was one of only two people in the six at this group interview to have used the database before.
I got the job, and it just about saved my life, as I was unemployed and getting desperate.
That experience led to me getting my current post some years later, I work from home and love it!
Good luck to all job hunters, sometimes the darkest hour is before dawn.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
1. Finished a great library book, a real can't put downer
2. Found the cheapest place locally to fill up the car with petrol....
3. Passed on some unused maths/English young children's exercise books to OH's nephew, DD's craft cupboard was full to brimming and she must have had some duplicates or something as I do remember doing tons of these with her when she was little. In fact she has some for this age group as well, so that's a wet afternoon sorted
4. Yummy dinner out at village pub with my work team, and work paid, nomnomnom
5. Stayed for a chat with friends in the pub when everyone else left and then walked home, hoorah, a night off driving!
6. Finally did some hoovering upstairs (it's practically an annual event as I'm too lazy and often a bit too scared to lug the heavy Henry up and down the stairs - the latter is my usual excuse and I'm sticking to it!)
7. Picked up OH so he could babysit and he had goodies in his bag - a punnet of strawberries from his mummy and a trashy magazine from his sisterThink a fruit salad breakfast is in order....
8. Did some dusting (see pleasure 6 about the frequency and importance of this task!), not all of it, didn't want to go mad0 -
Morning
Kittikins - Thank you for the hugs
Purplekitten - Well done and good luck for the next stage
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. Swapping money around the accounts so can get my US dollars ready for going away.
2. Lots of little jobs done at work, am slowly clearing my desk
3. Exchanged Mr.T vouchers for restaurant vouchers. Will use these for a big family dinner for DD's 16th birthday. Mr.T vouchers will be serving me well in the next few weeks as have used to pay for rail fares for neices wedding and they bought the airmiles for my trip to New York :money:
4. Managed to get the boots points deal thanks to MSE newsletter
5. We decided to go out for dinner to relieve some of the tension in the house of the last couple of days. Went to a local golf club where the restaurant is on a lake. We sat watching the mist drift over the lake but was nice and cosy inside and had a lovely dinner in pleasant relaxed surroundings. Just what we needed.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Some for today so far! (Thurs).
1) Boys off to school happily.
2) Had haircut at local college for £4.
3) Sneaky hot chocolate in cafe.
4) Sainsbury's shopping without sons.
5) Brother here playing on the Wii.
6) All packed and ready to go! Staying with MrB this evening (the 3 of us), then going from his to London tomorrow on the train. Then dropping bigger son off at his friend's house for a sleepover on the way home!
Hope everyone has a good Thursday/Friday.0 -
Evening all,
I am very tired today... two nights on the trot is not good for me! Plus I have fallen off the Money saving wagon (bad girl). From tomorrow I will be back to my MSE ways.
1) Gorgeous sunrise this morning
2) Collected my boots from the cobbler and they are as good as new - so I don't need to buy new ankle boots this season.
3) nice atmosphere in the office and I managed to crack through my to do list.
4) Home by 5.30pm
5) Got a yummy fish pie for supper which is leftover from the other night.
Nighty night everyone... tis going to be a early night tonight.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
The support on here is amazing, thank you, I’ll let you know how I get on tomorrow, and hope to get some sleep tonight! The interview outfit is hanging up in the bedroom ready.
1. A homemade bacon sandwich for breakfast / lunch.
2. I was watching the animals play and thinking how relaxing they are to have.
3. Made another slow dent on the awful 2 foot file of paperwork in the office/box room, thou sad to say I think I just shuffled it into piles
4. A washing load on the line to dry.
5. A cheap but tasty homemade curry and rice for dinner.
Best of luck to all that are job searching right now.0
