    mine for the weekend

    1) not going out in the cold on Saturday, OH braved the shops

    2) feeling christmassy cooking stuff with xmas music on

    3) watching the snow come down and being nice and warm indoors

    4) having a housefull today and feeding them all up

    5) not being too stressed that DSD obviously wasn't into doing our early xmas (we won't be here over xmas itself) and when she wanted to go out, telling OH, let her go.....it was a bit of a ....and breathe....moment, but ok it meant more to OH than her and I will make it up to him later ;)

extra....its only 5 more sleeps till we go down to my family and can't wait to see DGDs awwwwwwww
whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

    Stopped smoking 20:30 28/09/11 :D
  • Hope you are all warm and cosy this evening

    1) Parsnip soup on our coffee/lunch date yesterday. It was Parsnip and Honey, I think, with something spicy and warming to pep it up a bit.
    2) Got my Christmas present. I wanted an eco-friendly watch and the prices on the internet were astronomical. We went back to the shop where I had bought one for DH three years ago and it was still very reasonably priced for the same thing.
    3) Watched the Star Trek movie last night. Was unexpectedly good.
    4) Had the stove burning all day. We've already paid for the coal so I feel ok about it.
    5) Sat and read the paper all afternoon. I rarely have the time and I enjoyed it very much.

Another strange day. The ex is on a sticky wicket now regarding contact with his sons (that is the opinion of all barristers, the judge and the social worker, not me!) I've been told if he acts awkwardly once more, contact is over. Which has put me in a predicament today. The boys spent 3 hours with him today and he phoned my dad (he keeps harrassing mum and dad with calls) and brought the boys back late. I have emailed my solicitor and, tomorrow morning, it could be that this is where she draws a line. This will be after 5 years of absolute stupidity on his part, btw.

    Anyway, 5 for today.

    1) Getting phone calls from my sister on the train (she'd spent the weekend in Manchester) as she was panicking about the weather. I was able to keep saying, "Well, its lovely here, blue skies!" She did get back OK in the end.

    2) Having the company of the cats, its even cold enough to drive big cat in!

    3) Playing in the snow for a *short* time with little son. They don't like the cold!

    4) Watching James May Toy Stories about Lego.

Oh, can't think of a 5th at the moment. Might get back to you all :-)

Acey - has the snow settled with you then? My sons haven't been impressed with the lack of it down here, so if you and your boys have any to spare, please send a little down south. Thanks!

Clearing two months' worth of rubbish out of my car.
Doing a bit of tidying in the garage and making a little more space.

DS2 teaching himself how to play 'The Snowman' on his guitar, just by ear.

Finishing the last of the Christmas cards ready for tomorrow's final post. Once again, I'm going to need to add some postage on to the second class stamps

The tot of Baileys that I'm about to add to my coffee. I need a good night's sleep and hopefully I'll wake up in a more positive frame of mind tomorrow.

Scotrae - it snowed for about half an hour last night during Strictly - really massive white flakes. Had about 2 cm then and that's it! We walked down the road this afternoon and could see very little snow left between ourselves and Malvern. We're really high up so its still here but looking very tatty.

    A late 'evening all'!

    My five pleasures for Sunday:

    1. Doing the last of the performance today - a matinee which seemed to go really well and there were a lot of happy children at the end. The director gave very generous book tokens as a 'thank you' to DS1 & 2 and they were sooo pleased with them.

    2. Getting six little bunches of flowers put together this morning - they were token gifts from DS1 for six of the girls in the show but looked so pretty with silver tissue and pink ribbon. I think the recipients were pleased.

    3. Seeing my sisters and neices who had come to see the show today.

    4. Getting home safely on icy roads and climbing into bed to warm up only to wake two hours later with DS1 announcing that they'd made some supper. Must have needed that sleep.

    5. Remembering to get this weeks online veggiebox order in on time (phew - just before the midnight deadline!) with a few nice treats for Christmas, nothing massively excessive but just enough I think.

Am now going to take all my spare shopping vouchers upstairs to sort in bed so that I can be sure that the ones that need using this week actually get used on time. Because of the show all our usual routines have somewhat gone by the board and I need to get back on track.

    Sweet dreams everyone.

  • Hi everyone
Summer solstice here today, warm but with gusty winds. Lots of pleasures to report.
    1. Harvested 8kg of cherry plums from the plums trees at the corner of our street. I appear to be the only one picking them, there are about 8 trees and they are absolutely laden. Just washed them and popped them in the freezer, as I don't think there are any fruit trees at the farm. Will make fruit leather from them in the winter.
    2. Stopped and had a chat with the one motorist that passed by in the two hours I was picking them, the joys of living in a quiet village.
    3. Dil is organising Christmas dinner, have just had my email telling me what to bring, I love the way the family get together with no fuss and create a fabulous meal with no one person 'bearing the brunt' of all the work.
    4. OH came home from work, and rushed out to work on the boat, it's been well over a year since he has had the energy to do this, maybe things are coming right at last.
    5. Picked a kg of strawberries from the gardens, and 12 zucchini which I have dehydrating for the winter
    Blessings be
    Jennie

    Morning all,

Sorry haven't posted for a few days but have been really busy and computer at home is not playing nicely at the moment.

Anyway mine for the last couple of days in no particular order:
    1. Family outing with OH, DD and DD friend to the theatre on Saturday to see Skellig. All really enjoyed it and we had a nice lunch out as well.
    2. DD friend's mum thanking me for taking her DD as she managed to have a day to herself. It was a pleasure to have her so no thanks was needed but nice all the same
    3. Getting big grocery shop done yesterday and not costing the earth as had lots of vouchers
    4. Lots of cuddles of DD, she is feeling under the weather but nice to have the cuddles.
    5. Walking to work today as had some extra time today, no packed lunches to make for OH and DD

Happy Winter Solstice! (Except for Kiwiblue : Happy Summer Solstice you lucky thing! hehehe).

Could not come back online yesterday so here are my yesterday pleasures:

1 - Breakfast in bed with DH (prepared by me, for a change) : Homemade baked beans and fried mushrooms and a fried egg for him, oj and tea.

2 - Very successful antenatal meeting with my March birth woman and her husband, very positive and relaxed (the husband) and a bit less anxious (her).

3 - She (the birth woman at point 2) came back from Italy a few days ago and brought me a soup pasta that can only be found in Italy and that I love (grattini) even if it contains some egg - my one-off exception to being vegan.

4 - She also gave me a cyclamen plant, which is really lovely because I love cyclamen.

5 - Came back to find that DH had finished fitting the blinds and they all work - now all I need is a pic to post here!

6 - Evening, carol service at the local church and refreshments afterward where I met a lot of people I had not seen for a while.

Have a great day, see you all later xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
