    Hello

I had a cold yet lovely day with my DD and OH.

    1. Browsing the local shops and I have found a local pet food supplier so no more ordering from big companies for me!
    2. Lunch at grannies with lots of news and stories to listen to.
    3. Taking a delivery in the snow to a friend of grans and being rewarded with a large sherry (yum)
    4. Snoozing on the couch while half watching a DVD
    5. OH made a delicious dinner and put DD to bed.

All in all a very relaxing day. Looking forward to more of the same tomorrow!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

Had a fairly quiet day. Here's my 5:

    1) Did some present wrapping while the boys were at their father's for lunch.

    2) Used leftovers from yesterday to make bubble and squeak for lunch - hadn't made that for years.

    3) Went swimming with sons and my brother this afternoon.

    4) Made spaghetti Bolognese for tea at sons request and they were most complimentary :-)

    5) In my clear out of the freezer, I found some blackberries from the summer and made blackberry muffins.

    6) Watched Casualty and Strictly.

    7) Kept checking the thermometer outside and the temperature rose from -6 (this morning) to about -1 an hour or so ago and FINALLY - its snowing!!

    Hello everyone,

I've been struggling to find any O/S pleasures this week as it's been a pretty horrendous week. My DM was rushed into hospital seriously ill and it was touch and go. The Pre-Christmas holiday DH and I had planned had to be postponed as we obviously had more important things to think about. It's odd how when something really serious happens, you seem to go from panic mode onto auto-pilot and somehow struggle through it. However a few days on and..............
    1) DM is showing small signs of recovery.
    2) We had an unplanned visit from DS2 who travelled up to visit his Nan and it was lovely to see him.
    3) We shared an unplanned dinner out with DS1 because none of us had time to cook anything that night and it was a moment of calm amid the mayhem.
    4) When we travelled to the hospital today the Countryside looked like a picture postcard with it's snowy fields and tree's sparkling in the frosty sunshine. I felt very thankful.
    5) I am home tonight, and able to relax a little now after one of the worst weeks and thinking maybe DM will be able to see Christmas after all.

(((Hugs))) for you, elizabunny, and anyone else that needs them.

    My five pleasures for Saturday:

    1. I've been accident prone all day :o (including nearly getting knocked down by a car this morning and tripping up and landing flat on my face at the theatre tonight) and I've survived uninjured! I'm tired after helping with the two shows.

    2. Buying some lovely bunches of flowers, cellophane and ribbon to make posies to give to people tomorrow. It was fun choosing. It also made me realise that if I have cellophane, tissue and ribbon in the house, I can always put a pretty and professional bunch of flowers together as a prezzie (using stuff from the garden) - a MS 'ah ha' moment.

    3. Someone turning up at the theatre in the break between the matinee and the evening performance with a spare take-away hot chocolate at just the right moment. I hadn't had time to go out to buy one and was really grateful for it.

    4. Loving watching DS1 performing really, really well today.

    5. Looking forward to the imminent pleasure of doing lots of sudokus from today's newspaper - don't often get one - before I go to sleep.

    Sleep well everyone.

elizabunny - sending prayers and positive thoughts your way for youy DM.

Caterina - I haven't read all the way through the week but it's nice to hear things sounding more positive. How were the blinds?

Olliebeak - I've said it before but thanks for always reading and commenting so attentively on everyone's posts. It brightens my day just to get a mention and know that out there in cyberspace there are new friends, not yet met.

Blackcrow - thanks for your good wishes on the job front. I'm hoping that fate has the perfect job just around the corner for me.

    My 5 for today:

    1. I used up bits that we had in to make some very plain looking sandwiches for DS1's team Christmas party. I knew that DS wouldn't touch ham or tuna himself and was worried that they'd all get left on the side - but it turned out that he'd been very proud of them and they went like hot cakes.

    2. DS1 giving me the Caramel bar from his selection box.

    3. I have started to clear out the freezer. Some bits and pieces just had to go, so that I can see what's in there and control it better in the new year for meal planning and so on. Feeling bad about some waste but good about the fresh start.

    4. Cooking one frozen pasty, one frozen portion of shepherd's pie and a double portion of stew from the freezer clearout rather than having yet more sausages for tea. Lots of spuds and lovely cheap veggies and everyone was happy.

    5. My boys sitting down playing Lego for ages this evening, while I watched Strictly and Take That bits in between times. They were singing along with the concert, which made me smile. (They really are growing up fast.)

DS went to a party that we were both invited to tonight but I said we'd save on babysitters if I stayed home and wrote some more Christmas cards instead. I have run a nice bath but might just stop and watch a bit more vintage Wife Swap instead. (Heaven help me if they ever send a domestic goddess round to my husband and he realises how dreadful I am as a housekeeper!)

    Good morning!

Elizabunny Big hugs to you & your Mum it must have been an awful time xx

Ollie Yes it's the same wool :D I was thinking yesterday that it'd make a fab hat if I had the patience to do all the shaping with the pom poms getting in the way :rotfl: Susie made sure that she got her share of cat food ;)

    My five for yesterday:

    1. A lovely relaxing day watching movies with DD & DS3.

    2. DS1 bought me a tub of Ben & Jerry's from Tesco where they are on offer for £2. I ate the lot through the course of the day :o:D

    3. DS2 had stayed at a friends on Friday night & was staying at another friends last night so he came home for a quick bath & to grab some more stuff. We had a quick catch up whilst he was here.

    4. It was brilliant watching the snow from the warmth of the living room.

    5. Scarf halfway finished and DH's cross stitch for Christmas is also done too :T

Have a good day all & wrap up warm. Big hugs to those who need them now xx

    Hi all

Dropping in quickly to update on blinds but before that I want to send (((HUGS))) to Elizabunny and best wishes for her DM's health.

Scotrae thanks for kind words, here is the update about the blinds: only managed to string up one in the end because DD had made dinner and it was ready when I went downstairs. But the one that has been strung is working beautifully! RESULT!!!

Today I won't be able to do anymore until evening because I am booked to go and do an antenatal visit for my March birth woman but DH agreed to string the remaining two. If DD's BF is around tonight (and the blinds look presentable) I shall ask him to take a pic with his diggy camera and will post it here.

DS came back last night from his party, saw the blind up and said that it looks really professional, bless him - it made me very proud, though!

See you all later for pleasures xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Here are mine for today/yesterday

    1) A bit of a nice party with some friends last night, finally getting to bed at 3am!
    2) Having a go on a new dance game on the Wii with my friend - what a laugh
    3) It being cold and not having to go out.
    4) The tree lights. I appreciate them gently twinkling in the corner.
    5) Bacon. It is beautiful after a few drinks the following morning!

Good evening  - ooooooh it's been cold today and had to have the heating on all day .

mineallmine - wd to you for reminding us all about our 'feathered friends' and that many of them need us to make sure that they have a regular supply of water at this time of year :T.
sparrer - thanks for sharing your family day with us - and hope that your friend's DD settles into her new life :).
Kitchenbunny - Well done on your great 'cooking day' :). Wtg on your Wii-Dancing .
Caterina - congrats on finally getting your blinds completed, installed and working :T.
Rummer - wd on your day with family .
ACEY - Wtg on getting some things wrapped - none done here yet :(.
Elizabunny - so sorry to hear that your DM has been taken seriously ill - all prayers for her recovery. Don't forget to look after yourself properly at the moment - so easy to become a poorly yourself when worrying about loved-ones. HSarmhugs_9780.gif for you and your DM.

Broomstick - oh dear - I'll bet you're glad that's over at last. Wd to your boys, their griends and all the assistants - I'm sure you'll all be putting your names forward to be involved with the NEXT one :rotfl:.
scotrae - lol at your No.2 - that's as good as getting 'his last 'Rolo' ;). Wd on working your way through the freezer contents.
SunnyGirl - I know it's a bit old-fashioned but could you do a hat that's just a large rectangle with a row of 'k2tog yfwd k2' holes close to the top, another couple of rows of plain knitting then cast off. Stitch up the side and then thread a cord through the top of the hat and gather it tightly - bit like how you finish off a tea-cosy. I suppose it would all depend on how it looked when finished  - is it easy to undo if you don't like something about it? Good to hear that you're all keeping warm and cosy up there on the moors - take care .
bunny too - mmmm sausage sarnies  and wd on your chicken stew in the SlowCooker :T.

    Mine for yesterday and today:

    1. Great day shopping with DD and dgd1 - took much delight in embarassing both of them with my flashing-light Santa earrings .

    2. Managed to get most of the remaining pressies and we had a lovely lunch in Wetherspoons where I was able to use a 'free coffee' voucher from a couple of weekes ago (given to me by the Manager as an extra 'sorry' when I complained about hard pastry).

    3. Watching the snow while we were in Wilkos :).

    4. Went for coffee and spotted my lovely brother with his g/f - they joined us for a natter as we don't often get the chance to meet up :).

    5. Brief chinwag with one of my sisters who was working in one of the larger town centre shops - another one that I don't get much chance of meeting up with.

    6. Going straight to Asda on the way back (already laden down with bags etc) to meet up with OH - needed a taxi back home anyway, so best to make full use of one and get as much shopping as possible .

    7. Got an Indian Deli Counter Takeaway for evening meal  to save cooking.

    8. Found a few whoopsies waiting specially for me ;) including a deodorant for 40p cos no lid on it - but the spray-top was still connected with the little strip of plastic :j.

    Today:

    1. Took liver out of the freezer for evening meal - had with onion mash, braised cabbage and added a left-over onion bhaji to the liver to use it up ;). Fresh fruit salad to follow with natural yoghurt.

    2. Got the remaining decs down from the loft and finished off doing the living room - still 2 wreaths missing though !

    3. Two loads of laundry done and dried without using the TD :j.

    4. Managed to watch a few Christmassy things on telly today including Ben Fogle in 'Countrytracks (?)' and the wonderful Alistair Sim in 'Scrooge'.

Am now going to make myself a lovely fresh coffee and put my feet up to see what else is on this evening.

HS116163.gif to all who need them - love Ollie xxx
