    HI all

Tealady sorry to hear about your mum's friend, of course you feel the need to grieve if she was a close friend of the family (((HUGS))).

I have just popped in to put my five for today because I am about to go out:

1 - Went to the hairdresser to get my hair done by the trainee, as a model, but the trainee was not there so the salon manager did it for me at trainee price (of course I gave her a good tip). Now I have my blonde highlights back and also my pink fringe (I wonder if DH tonight will say: "there is some change in you but I cannot quite put the finger t.on what it is...." ).

2 - DD cooked Grattini soup (the stuff that my Italian pregnant woman brought back from Italy for me) for lunch, it was YUMMY!

3 - DS is feeling much much better.

4 - Anticipating the Chinese meal I am going to have with DH tonight

5 - Anticipating the Handel's Messiah by candlelight concert we are going to attend in St Martin's tonight.

Off I go to put some war paint and throw on a few gladrags (how does one "do" glam in this cold?).

Have a great evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Hi all

Been a strange couple of days for me so not sure I can do pleasures but lets see how we go on.

1 Went into hospital for op yest, which ended up being postponed as my HDU bed had to be used for an emergency so was sent home again after hours in a gown which my behind hanging out and beautiful stockings on!!!! The pleasure was how helpful my DD1 (who came with me) was

2 Sleeping in my own bed when I thought I would not be in it for a few nights!

3 Ended up in work today when they were not expecting me and it was lovely to see how nice people were and the good wishes for tomorrow (op rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon)

4 Listening to my OH busy wrapping his presents to me last night - he is so ham-fisted with things like that but was determined to do it himself and not accept the offer of help from DD2. There was lots of muttering under his breath:D

5 Made a lovely chicken tea with savoury wedges and spicy rice. Nice and easy to do but much appreciated by all.

    Have a nice evening all

  • Hi everyone
    My five

    1. Having a nightcap with Dh at 11pm, when there was a knock on the door and we found a couple of very scared teenagers who had managed to get their car stuck on the beach. We live down a long driveway and I think they were very apprehensive by the time they made it to the door. They had stopped at another house and been directed to us. OH towed them out and got them on their way again, but I don't think they will be playing at night in the sand for quite a while! Especially on an incoming tide.

    2. I have joined the flylady thread as housework is definitely not my strong point. Timing is a bit of an issue, as the morning will be half over before the list is put up, but it does help me get motivated.

    3. Roasted some coffee for SIL and the house is now tidy and aromatic, what more could I want?

    4. All presents are wrapped, labelled and ready to go. I'm usually a last minute shopper so I feel soooooooo organised.

    5. Thanks for your kind words about my life, I am so envious of you all having a white Christmas, something I have never experienced and am unlikely to.

Hugs to those who need them and to all
    Blessings be
    Jennie

    Evening all, my five..

    1. Spent a lovely day with friends yesterday before they flew off to the sun - they were lucky enough to get away only 2 hours late
    2. DB was due to bring DM here today but can't get here due to the weather so they're going to try again tomorrow - it gave me a wonderful, peaceful day with little or nothing to do between visitors
    3. DNeighbour walked to the shops to get my dog food, she saw me brushing snow off the car and insisted on going for me, bless her heart (she did say she would rather walk there than see me with a dented car!)
    4. My comp has had to go for repair so youngest DGD has lent me hers. It's a bit erratic but at least I can stay in touch...and they do have 4 laptops and a pc in their house!
    5. Oldest DGD's 18th birthday today, where has the time gone? I remember her birth as though it was yesterday. She was a joy then and has been every day since, I'm so proud of my DD for being such a wonderful mum

Night night, stay safe and take great care if you have to go out

Tealady I'm so sorry to read such awful news. My thoughts are especially with you & the family at the moment x

    Good evening,

A mixed day as I ended up having a screaming row with the elder 3 children - just the usual untidyness, arguing with each other etc etc - and spent a couple of hours at lunchtime in tears while DS1 stormed out of the house without telling us where he was going. I have since spoken calmly to them all (and they to me) and peace & christmassy goodwill appears to have been restored for a while :D So all in a good result and maybe lessons learned for us all.

    My five for today

    1. Talking through things with the kids - eventually!

    2. Last 4 presents wrapped & hidden away :rudolf:

    3. Menu planning & shopping lists done until 6th January :T

    4. My scarf is finished I can't wait to wear it now.

    5. A lovely tea of chicken curry. I found a jar of Rogan Josh sauce lurking in the back of the cupboard so added it to the slow cooker with some chopped chicken, onions & peppers, a jar of pasatta & some extra curry powder and it was yummy.

I hope that everyone has a good evening & remember to have some time to yourself during this busy week.

    Hiya all

Ollie - I phoned the insurance company today and they have not reported it yet, this is going to turn into a nightmare for me as they wont do the work without the excess and i dont have the money to pay the excess and why should i when it was totally that blokes fault!!! sorry, rant over!

    Mine for today:

1 cleaned my kitchen - i hate having a dirty kitchen a feel so much better now that i have had time to pull everything out and give it a proper clean!

2 Got through my huge pile of ironing (well mostly)

3 Got the xmas shop done (was a nightmare but will be worse tomorrow!) - just need to pop out tomorrow for plughole unblocker and thats it unless anyone can tell me how to unblock my bath which still has water in from this morning!

4 Having a chat with one of my neighbours. She is absolutly lovely but since kids have started back at school I havent had time to chat so it was nice catching up today.

5 Eating my chocolate truffles!!! Enough said!!! And apparently my MIL is cursing me as she has eaten all the white chocolate fudge I gave her at the weekend. Making more for the neighbour tomorrow so might just pop some in the post to her!!! :P

    Hope everyone is all ok.

Tealady - hugs to you, so sorry to read about your family friend xx

Ollie - hope DD's procedure goes smoothly tomorrow xx

    1. Was brave and went to Brighton today to get my eyebrows sorted out, I always joke that I look like Dennis Healy when they're bushy, but wow, the difference is fantastic :)

    2. Managed to get an impromptu haircut - I had the buy*gift cheapy haircut voucher, so just popped into the salon as I was passing and they could fit me in. Yippee! I had a gorgeous cut and not too much hard sell to buy "product" :)

    3. Unfortunately my night out is postoned but it means I'll be able to pack tonight and be ready to go and be reconciled with my gorgeous DD earlier tomorrow - she was really missing me tonight :( Never mind, we've pencilled in another date after Christmas to meet up when hopefully the weather will be kinder.

    4. Sad but good....I went to Border$ for their last day and picked up a good selection of books at 90% off, some money-saving ones - "Smart spending" and "Live more, spend less", hope they'll be useful - and once I've finished with them, they'll go on Amaz*n :)

    5. YS ciabatti, going to put them in the freezer for DD and I to enjoy next year.

    Mine for today

    1) Making mincemeat muffins when I got up to take to work, filled the house with a very christmassy smell

    2) getting to work without slipping over! (and the muffins staying in one piece)

    3) Making the boss laugh (it doesn't happen very often)

    4) A workmate and her husband gave me a lift home from work, saving me slipping and sliding all over the place, this was very good of them as they live the opposite end of town to me and apart from the main road the roads were not good

    5) not doing anything tonight at all, after last week when I was sorting stuff for Sunday its been nice to relax, will have to start again tomorrow night though, still have loads of stuff to wrap and get sorted for our trip christmas morning
whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

    Stopped smoking 20:30 28/09/11 :D
  • Phew....I have just finished reading this thread and its the nicest thing I have read in a long time, I have been a lurker on MSE for a while now and just discovered this and feel the need to add my own...if thats ok with you all

    1) had breakfast in bed made by my OH ....what a treat
    2) Took my grandkids to see Santa (way over priced but their little faces was worth it)

    3) Made a lovely hamper for my friend who has had some really bad news going to visit her tomorrow

    4) watching my heavily pregnant daughter's tummy move about frantically...baby must have been having and aerobics session in there

    5) feeling really happy at the thought of becoming a grandma for the 7th time in March :) and all under 5 years of age :):)

Merry Xmas to you all XX
