Do BT make a charge for this service? The calls have started again in the early hours of the morning!

Nothing to do with BT... although BT will charge you for the call to 0800 Reverse's Customer Services so they can add you to their growing list of phone users who want nothing to do with them.

Sorry, am so tired having my sleep disturbed! Thought the comment about calling 0845 0779000 to stop reverse charges was actually calling BT. Who does this number belong to and is there a re charge to stop these calls?

All BT's numbers are 0800 numbers now.

    0845 077 9000 is 0800Reverse's

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Someone onorthodox trying to create revenue from what I can see from the other posts on forumn. We had a phonecall at 12.30 Saturday night (last night) then 7.00 Sunday morning (this morning), both times we didn’t get to phone as in bed but did 1471 and discovered this 0845 6853000 (08000 Reverse number). I then rather than rang it as I felt suspicious of it googled it and got the moneysavingexpert forumn where many others are listed with hoax calls. I then just answered one of these calls (7.30am) where someone of different ethnic origin said something unrecognisable. I want to barr the 0800reverse service from my phone. I want to stop the company ever phoning us again. Can I do this without a lengthy expensive phone call.

  • I have just blocked our line using the 0845 number, it is a very quick call (and free at the weekend on BT anyway). No need to speak to anyone.
  • I contacted the 0800 Reverse company via their email. I was surprised that they did reply and I was pleased with the response. :)

This is some of what they wrote:

"From the content of the message and the callers call records I do believe that this caller was indeed a nuisance caller. We have now taken action and put a stop to this caller using the 0800 Reverse service by blocking the callers mobile telephone from using the service."

And they have said a block of up to 5 years has taken place on my telephone number against 0800 Reverse numbers.

I am pleased with this outcome and hope they be true to their word. :T

  • maybe just virgin mobiles, but my phone allows an 'emergency' text to be sent, the receiver gets a voice message saying the sender is out of credit and would you to call back..
