Apparently they took out a £140,000 mortgage on the assisted living bungalow, and want to clear it... yeah, not with my money! We went to £110,000, they would consider £130,000 which is the offer than has been on the table since August, but that person hasn't sold their house yet. Yeah, cos they're not going to drop to £125k when stamp duty comes back in!!!

The estate agent clearly thinks they're mad, has said judging by previous sale prices our offer is very reasonable. We've said we'll go to £115k, give them the weekend to think about it, but if they're not willing to negotiate any further then we'll start looking at other properties.

End of the day we like this because it makes financial sense, not because we're in love with it. So if we do have to wait longer for something else to come up, so be it.

That's a very good view to take! Now don't stress over it this weekend, you can't stop people from being mad and unrealistic so keep your mind off it! :D
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Thanks Zig - have you had a big treat yet?!!!

I bought way too much Soap & Glory for myself at the Boots Points night last night! :D

Great news about the house! :T You must be chuffed! Have a good meal out!

Dinah that sounds sensible. Do you think the estate agents will say that it is an offer that they should consider? Or just leave them to do what they want?

The agent told us it was originally valued at £160k, so if they did ever have it at £179 and somehow I don't know about it, they were taking the mick!

I have seriously strong cheddar (the red one, its my drug), and a glass of baileys. Who needs a house!

ETA: Estate agents have already told them our offer is very fair and the other one is unlikely to transpire, but they're stuck thinking the other one is a sure thing

Urgh, one thing I'm going to hate about house buying is the waiting game! Hopefully they will come to their sense and accept your offer - considering it's an ex council house and needs a lot of work doing it's more than fair.

It will be painful, and OH might think I've gone crackers but I'll keep my fingers crossed all weekend for you! :)

Sounds like they are being very unreasonable , but you are right I am sure another house will come along if needs be.

I just got home, OH is still at work but has left me a card , some flower, some chocolates and a cookie bless him. The card says in small writing at the top 'to my husband' lmao. poor OH he will probably get upset when i tell him.
