Oooh Lara I know hoe you feel! It gets worse sadly once the solicitors get involved... we kept getting massive piles of paper to read and sign, it was like playing a game, spot the tiny x in the pile of paper since there was no real inclination of where we had to sign! I think it was a bit worse for us as it was a flat so we had leases etc to sign too! We paid a girl to sort out everything financial for us, she scouted out the best mortgage for us, sorted it, had all of our checks done, organised the survey etc. It was £100 but worth it since we had no idea what we were doing, we just kept signing cheques!

Good news about the rebate Tete! You can have a swirly Martin for that!:money:

    Oooh, updates...off to post# 3 I go!

So wedding budget is only £11 over what I estimated. That's not terrible! Now...

    Paid so far: £1000
    Savings £7000
Additional savings by time of wedding: £9500
    Wedding budget: £20,011
Deficit/Clear: £2511 short. EEEk! Thats a lot! But if I can oversave for the wedding rings, then that only leaves us £511 short.... thats doable?!

ETA: I can't count! I missed out December and november!!!! Sums altered, less scary now

ETA: ooooh I forgot interest, we're owed about £300 of that on the ISAs. So £211 is really really doable.

I'm going to be 28 in two weeks' time!! I better go on with my 'things to do before I'm 30', one of which is becoming debt free(!) which isn't going to be easy...

Dinah, I think your budget is BIG but eminently sensible and I reckon you could easily come in under budget if that's what you're planning?

Why no budget for wedding dress? Did you say that was going to be a gift from your parents? Or are you planning on going all Adam and Eve on us?!

Lol no my parents are buying my dress. Ooooh and one of the brdesmaids mums is buying her dress (and likely to buy her shoes too) so thats about another £70 saved.

Thats a reaistic budget for us, if we come in under great, and we will try to get some bargains, but £20,000 is what we are expecting to spend.

The budget doesn't seem to bad when you break it down like that Dinah! Maybe in post 3 you should put a link to post 445 so I don't freak out for you when I look at it! :rotfl:

Lara - Try not to panic! (easier said than done, right?!) Good idea on saying you won't sign anything until you see the lease/contracts/whatever you call them! Hopefully it'll go without a hitch for you.

Well... if anyone can do it it's you! I can't believe how easily it all adds up though! Are you sure £200 is enough for Bridesmaid dresses? Aren't you having 3? Even on the highstreet I'd have thought you'd pay more than that unless you get really lucky in the sales!
