Found a cheaper one, but for the drop in quality of diamonds I'm not sure its worth the £400 saving. Emailed NIM and his answer was 'we went all on the engagement ring, we're not getting something lesser with the wedding rings'

Depends on the metal, you need one on the day, and if he goes for gold or white gold they're only about £100! Its platinum thats the expensive bit!

I didn't think you had to as my Dad doesn't have one? Maybe he just wore it on he day. I would prob just get a cheap one if that was the case. He is worried he would lose it as he would take it off for work and also he would hate wearing jewellary. Anyway am getting ahead of myself again haha.

I agree with NIM though you want them to be as good as each other.

Nah my dad doesn't wear one but had it for the day. Kind of daft to say 'with this ring I thee wed', and there be no ring! A mans ring can be from as little as about £40 in gold from Argos or wherever. My colleague is getting hers from Argos, £26. Trust me to have expensive tastes; platinum with diamonds!

I prefer the ring on Amazon Dinah, much nicer IMO! My ring'll be white gold so much cheaper than yours I hope! There's no point in spending a lot on OH's ring, he'll just lose it! He doesn't want one but I've bullied him into it!

My engagement ring has a really raised stone so I'm lucky in that a ring will pretty much fit down behind it anyway. Speaking of which, tomorrow I'm driving over to Darlington and putting my foot down - where is my ring?!

Well it's been gone for as long as I had it now! So I'm just starting to doubt he ever asked!

I prefer the Amazon one Dinah, I like the stones next to each other rather than spaced out. I know what you mean about expensive tastes though, I can flick through a magazine full of Primark clothes, and the one dress I like is from Armani or somewhere, sigh.

I like that ring too Birdie - really unusual, is that what you're going for? I like the idea of a traditional plain band myself.

You put your foot down with a firm hand! I was lucky with mine, it was a little local jewellers so they covered the envelope with 'URGENT' and 'ASAP', it was back within less than a week. My friend is on her 3rd engagement ring as the first 2 had problems (loose diamond, you could hear it rattling in the setting!) and her current one is on it's 3rd week in the jewellers getting resized. I think she's only had a ring on her finger for about 3 weeks in total since getting engaged in July! She's not happy!
