Avg 9 free new release problems

Polly,
This is not a symptom I have heard about with AVG, and I've read many forums on AVG issues over the last few months!
If I were you, I would run a 'system restore' function on your PC and roll it back a few days. This should get rid of your current issue, and hopefully it won't return. If AVG does a 're-boot' update, and your problem returns, you can narrow it down to it being the cause.
By the way, if you're not sure how to do a system restore, post a response asking how, or feel free to PM me....

Hi, I have AVG9 security which includes a Firewall, It costs less than a £5.00 for three PCs for one year. I used to have ZA Pro but had many so many problems, now everything seems fine.
AVGs firewall is useless, which means youd be better NOT using it and sticking with windows firewall
And as above, where have you got it at that price?:idea:0 -
Hi. Thanks for the advice. I didn't install Norton when I put on the AVG and now know this was a mistake. Frugalstephen, any help greatly appreciated.0

I didn't install Norton when I put on the AVG
Hi Polly,
I'm assuming the above quote was a 'typo' and you meant that you didn't uninstall Norton?
This is highly likely to be the source of some issues as you should never run two ant-virus programs together as they invariably conflict with each other, and cause lots of unexpected problems. The first step would be to uninstall Norton, assuming this is what you want to do.
Simply go to the 'start' tab at the bottome left of your screen, and display 'all programs'. Then look for the Norton tab, and when you highlight this, there should be an option to uninstall the program. Click this, then follow the onscreen prompts. Once this is done, you should have removed Norton, hence resolved any existing conflict between these two programs.
Hope this is of some help.....

Sorry about the typo and yes, you are correct that I did not uninstall Norton. This has been a bit of a learning curve but many thanks for the useful advice. :T Will post back again when I've had time to make a start on sorting this out.0
