  • LG what are you there for if there are no more flights out

We have to be here 24/7 in the control room - even when the last departure has gone and there are limited arrivals, we have to be here to man the emergency phones as the airport never closes, not even on Xmas day and night - what joy!

Greenbee - if that is what you need the seating for, I think you'll need to scour the websites or try and find a human on the reservations sites for the individual airlines - we can't have you crippled just for the sake of a job

If SarahS or Boddy are about, I've just found the Wiifit and SW threads on Health and Beauty board so hope to see you there, although Flylady will still be my one true love :D (and I'm not trying to creep)

...going to finally cull that mag pile instead of surfing - Jinky must have read my mind - great poem and spot on
    I'd rather be watching CSI!

Think I'll be delegating that one then... :D I have a choice of two airlines for the transatlantic bit, so I think I'll ask the travel agency at work to book whichever one will let them do that - maybe they can claim I've got long legs even though I haven't... or would being very annoying and fidgety be a good reason... or I could say I'll be doing yoga throughout the flight... or that my feet smell and need air circulating... or they should feel sorry for me because I'm being made to travel for work on a Saturday night instead of going out and watching fireworks ...

maybe they think only midgets fly... or maybe they only want midgets to fly as they weigh less (mind you, some of them appear to be as wide as they are tall, so that doesn't work does it!)

Wow, lots of pages and posts. Thanks for the info via PM, it helps a lot. :xmastree:

Since Monday I managed to do most of the list with a little help from my partner, though my computer has been slowly dying (need to build a new one-this one has had it) so have been behind with lists.

Monday ~ Living room, Hall and Stairs
    Level One
    [STRIKE]Declutter the floors
    Vacuum said decluttered floors![/STRIKE]
    Level Two
Wipe and water plants, dust and deweb
    Level Three
[STRIKE]Wash any soft furnishings that are in need
Clear and wipe window sills, and any electricals and picture frames etc
Empty and clear out a cupboard or drawer..
    [/STRIKE]

Tuesday ~ master bedroom and landing
    Level One
    Declutter floors
[STRIKE]Strip bedding, wash sheets and remake the bed.. BEFORE BEDTIME!![/STRIKE]
    Level Two
    Vacuum floors
Tidy away floordrobe/chairdrobe and top of chest of drawersdrobe!
    Level Three
[STRIKE]Sort out the airing cupboard or linen cupboard.. what can go? What do you need to keep?[/STRIKE]
Sort through one box of junk!

I think that's about right, though my partner has been very good and kept on top of the kitchen bits and bobs. At present we are both incapacitated with injuries (bad shoulder (me) and bad back (partner)) so we've been a little lacking in the cleaning of late. Will try and pop in again tomorrow if I can coax my computer into working again for a little while.

  • Ok so not such a productive day after work, picked DS up from nursery, DH came in, we had dinner. DS son to bed, did a little tidy in his room. Then I sat on the sofa, had a quick bath which I had toooo hot! Sat on sofa again not moved!

Have put a load in WM, and will go empty DW and load as DH seems to think the space above the DW is how it gets in there and washed!

Then HHI, not much on tv though! Maybe I'll just do DH shirt for morning and his lunch and then go to bed early instead, and be up with DS in morning with a decent nights sleep instead of the the few hours I've been getting!

Thank you for the hugs, froddington and daisy. Greenbee thanks for the advice about freezing the cake last night, and soappie your idea of a coffee morning was a good one but I have now doled out most of the cake to willing recipients and have enough left for new foster son and social worker tomorrow plus friend who is popping in tomorrow evening. Hopefully before Waterloo Road (I know one of the actors so always make a point of watching it even though I find the scripts hilariously unrealistic!).

My HHC turned into at least an hour, but I have had a good tidy round, dismantled a set of shelves which have stood in the middle of the room for the last month and re-homed the stuff that was on them, and hoovered round downstairs and done the stairs too. So the place is looking better and I am feeling a bit better.

I am off to re-make my bed now - the bedding has been washed and is drying. Then I may do some washing up before bed. Or I may just be a lazy slob and leave it until tomorrow afternoon, since I have to be up before seven in the morning and I want to go to bed. My body is still working on summer time so it thinks it's bed-time already!

I've only managed to skim the thread again so hugs to those in need and I hope everyone has a refreshing night's sleep tonight ready to begin again in the morning.

OK... calm down  relax... breathe...

Can you work out what your 'quick wins' are - which small things can you do to make a big difference?

    Think about:

    1. the room your parents will be staying in
    2. the rooms they will be spending most time in while they're with you (kitchen/living room maybe)
    3. bathrooms

Then if necessary box up the clutter and hide it under your bed, and give these rooms a S&S. Scrub the loos (people notice...).

From your list it looks as if you have done most things, but don't try to do any more decorating - just make sure the things you have done look clean and tidy (and make clear that anything that is less than perfect is being dealt with - if necessary leave the dust sheets & paint piled neatly but obviously in the corner).

Do you have before and after pics for us? If so, a few minutes spent posting them for us might help you see how much progress you've made, and some positive comments might make you feel better about how it looks.

Have you packed up the stuff to go to the tip yet? Get it out of the way first thing... once it's gone, you'll feel better.

thats my plan of action now....clean and tidy and make the most of what there is

although i could do with painting the stairs but that wont actually take more than an hour

Today I have done nothing productive...

    2x WM
    1x TD
    1 load laundry hung up
    1 load folded

    and I cooked dinner..

Don't diss yourself Ms Pigpen. You HAVE been productive today - you've done all that, AND been and done lectures and it was less than a week ago that you had a general anaesthetic. Be gentle on yourself...

Well do everything else first... in order of importance, and if you get the stairs done that's a bonus.

I hope the rest of the family are helping with preparations...

Spider squashed (left it under a book... don't have the energy to deal with it :o; gym bag packed; tub of bath salts emptied (at last) into bath and bath running... so I'm pretty much on track, although the filing and cleaning aren't making much progress.

I think wilf should come and house-sit for me while I'm away... I can leave a list :D
  • sexymouse we are of like minds, valli and me, on this issue. Remember how much you spend on union subs and push for your money's worth. Do you have a local centre you can phone? I know you really will not feel like it at the moment, but you must not be treated like this, it is pants, and it is not your fault.
    Well said
"You'll seldom experience regret for anything that you've done. It is what you haven't done that will torment you. The message, therefore, is clear. Do it! Develop an appreciation for the present moment. Seize every second of your life and savor it. Value your present moments. Using them up in any self-defeating ways means you've lost them forever."
Love it, might steal it and use it!
Especially I have been experiencing feelings of regret recently for what I haven't done. It might not have changed the outcome if I did do it. Need to let the feeling go and fly away :D
Hugs babe, I'm the same, but like you need to let these feelings go - nothing we do or say now will change the past, regretting things is a waste of time and emotions, just have to learn from it and move onwards

AJ, great news on your promotion!

Big hugs Jill, hope things get better in your household

Kazm, any news? Thinking of you all xx

Mudbath, hope the “something” they have found can be easily sorted and that DS will be back to his old self in no time

    Hugs Smiley

Hi Mummy2mygirls, I was thinking about you recently! How’s the pregnancy going?

Soappie, please pass on our love to Toots

Valli, have you hurt yourself or is it AF?

Hello Twoflowers, I got your PM will reply when I’ve got more energy

Hi everyone, just popped on to see if Kazm has posted, but I see there’s no news

I’m so incredibly tired! This morning, and all that work I did y’day, have really taken it out of me. Haven’t even washed up. DH did dinner – it was a freezer meal with pasta so I don’t feel too guilty about getting him to do it on a workday.

Tomorrow have got the CMHT and then seeing a friend – she’s had bad news about her leg (long story, broke it, hospital said it’s not broken, walked on it for a week, then they decided it was broken, 11 operations later…) and she’s really down about it. I hope it’s not another operation, I don’t think she could cope with it. Anyway, hopefully I will be able to do some flying, but if I’m still tired I will aim to rest and then fly on Thursday and Friday as I’ve got nothing planned for those days.
