Speed humps cause road deaths

Here are some info (Fact & speculation) on speed humps

This road definately needs speed bumps as there have been numerous people run over there by cars http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=79880673853

I disagree - it's the people who need education about how to cross roads properly. What happened to the green cross code taught to children in schools? I see kids running into the road all the time. Is that schools' fault, parents' fault, or drivers' fault for daring to operate a motor vehicle?
In the same way that Inactive says a few drivers ("morons") cause damage to their own vehicles by not driving over the speed humps properly, if a few people (also "morons" for the sake of parallel argument) are willing to walk into the road without bothering to look to see if it is safe to do so then you have to expect casualties.
Incidentally what do you consider a 'proper' way to drive over a speed cushion/hump? Not looking for your personal opinions but an official piece of guidance on speed and position. Trust that isn't a problem since so many of you are evidence based people and will therefore already have read such advice.0 -
But that small stretch of road has had 8 road deaths (Including a poodle dog) in the space of only 24 years. It's well above the national average!0

So assuming there is evidence shall we remove then and then let irresponsible drivers (not all drivers are) drive and what ever speed they like then kill people.
Lets not forget lower speeds actually encourage more people to walk/cycle rather than just drive because the perception is on faster roads its too dangerous to cycle/walk because of all the cars, and dont forget the health benefits too let alone environmental impact of a 20mph speed zone.
The reason we have 20mph in my area is because police rarely monitor speeding drivers, if we all drove at responsible speeds given the legal speed limit and or weather condition/surroundings.
I am not convinced by any means that the above links show and year prove I am convinced inappropriate speed does kill.0 -
I agree children need to be taught of the risks of being near a road however children dont like always doing as they are told and or can wonder on to the road when they distracted.0

So it's OK to run a child over because you are in a tearing hurry then?0 -

Read a bit about people on busses suffering spinal injuries due to speed humps.
I wonder how many of the (alleged) accidents were in excess of the speed limit (I mean over 70, not 33 in a 30), in modified cars (lowered, wider wheels etc).
If a cars lowered or has wider wheels/tyres on it, these may hit wheel arch/spring/anywhere they shouldnt when they go over speed bumps causing the damage to the tyres.
Just a couple of assumptions since the entire thread is based on nothing more.0 -
In this thread i've seen a few people claim that drivers (morons) driving over speed bumps incorrectly are to blame for damaging their vehicles and that you should drive over them with one wheel on the road and one on top of the bump.
In the image above you'll see a road with three cushions/tables/bumps across it with a very narrow gap seperating each bump. Could somebody please tell me the correct way to drive over these safety enhancing speed bumps please because it is impossible to drive over them with one wheel on the road and one on the middle of the bump, the gap between them isn't wide enough to do so.
There are 13 of these on a 1 mile stretch of road so obviously any journey will mean negotiating TWENTY-SIX speed bumps all of which HAVE to be driven with one wheel on each side of the bump which people in this post say makes me a moron and is me damaging my own car. Could these people please tell me how to avoid doing this because I am struggling.
ps it's a 30 mile an hour road not a 20.0
