I think it is something that just happens.
I've stopped being able to eat eggs - they literally make me heave & have done for the last couple of weeks.
& I'm definitely not preg : That would take several miracles!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
sometimes a sinus infection can cause meat to smell rancid it used to happen to me when i was younger my mum used to think i was mad ,it generally happened when i was getting a cold .
every thing used to cook smelt like that even hp sauce .
next time you are cooking try a nasal spray first0 -
The only time I retch at cooking foods is rancid bacon (smells & looks fine before I put it on grill) or when fish is cooking if I've been ill.0

I thought it was just me!
I often think that the meat I'm cooking smells off - especially mince, pork joints and chicken.... have chucked the Sunday roast on more than one occasion cos I was convinced it was on the turn.
The smell always seems worse in the initial cooking stage - as once its cooked through, the smell disappears.
The smell of meat on barbecues is yuck-yuck rather than yum-yum
I'm definately not premenstural, pregnant, or menopausal.....all my hormones come from a daily dose of HRT nowadays :rotfl::heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

about a month ago i was cooking mince beef, and the smell of it made me feel so sick, so i threw it out, woundnt even give it the dog. thought the butcher had given me bad meat.
Yesterday I started cooking some fresh mince from a different butcher and again the smell was ransid to me, I got my 11 year old daughter to smell it, she said smells ok mum, then in my gut I thought at that point I would never beable to put meat in my mouth again. .. the thought of meat dead flesh is turning my gut thinking about it,
I am just wondering if this has happened to any of you? I have always been a meat eater and not I just cant do it..
Is this what happeneds when people just go veggi?
thanks

Actually - you've just described the exact same reaction I have to the smell of mince cooking - and I am vegetarian. When I smell mince cooking - it smells absolutely awful to me and I really cant stand the smell of meat cooking (err...except bacon that is...but I'm not tempted by that).
Meat smells ARE abhorrent to a vegetarian - and I dont think most meat-eaters seem to realise it somehow - or dont care...
So - maybe its just your body's way of saying "Excuse me...missis...but I'd like to be vegetarian now please" IYSWIM. If this continues to happen - then perhaps it would worth trying a spell as a vegetarian and see how that suits you?:)0 -
It's exactly what happened to me 20 or so years ago. Suddenly I couldn't stand the smell or taste of meat. So I went vegetarian.
I think it was pushing at an open door, though. I'd wanted to go vegi for a while, but I wasn't exactly surrounded by support.import this0 -
I can't stand the smell of bread toasting, especially brown bread, if I am in another room and OH is getting breakfast. If I am in the kitchen toasting it myself it doesn't affect me.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

actually - this is why I prefer supermarket meat - the smell of a real butchers shop makes me heave. but i know its because my grandfather was a delivery driver and one of my last memories of him was when he took me with him in the lorry. the smell of meat i associate with grandad dying . I, like my grandad like to eat meat. but i cant go into small butcher shops - supermarkets at least dont smell the same.0
