yes. I will
I have to go in for some "interview training" on Thursday. Then im going to talk to them about it there. There was talk of them freeing some temps. I might have to drive this home yet again.
I did tell them that im broke, and selling my house, she just said "never mind" Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...

Lynz, I am not sure how the law works exactly but I am sure as a permanent employee you should take precedence over a temporary member of staff ie they can't make you redundant (which it sounds like they effectively are) if there is a job that you are fit and able (and willing) to do. What about the DLA for the time you were off? ( refused this as well you know and didnt appeal as I am not unwell. )
But you were unwell for the period for which you were claiming - which was the point. Is it too late to appeal now?
What about the volunteering you were thinking of doing? It's unpaid, but will help how you feel. (wont i get sacked for doing this?, otherwise I may as well get a job locally, ie my local cab office wants controllers, I could do that??
Check your contract. Some are all-of-time, most are not. Yours may be similar to this: You can get another job provided it does not operate in conflict with your existing job, and you inform the council you're doing it. But like I said - check your contract.
The CAB would be ideal as it would undermine the medical opinion quite substantially with regards as to not be able to deal with the public in stressful situations.
What's the plans for when you sell your house?
rent, and see what happens job wise
Rent where? Would you move to improve your employment prospects? Would you move to substantially reduce your living costs?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Never mind! Are they having a laugh or something?. These people dont live in the real world, dont seem to realise its your life theyre casually dismissing. They obviously dont know what its like to struggle. It makes me annoyed. They surely owe you some kind of loyalty for your service. Its just not good enough from them. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
I am so sorry to hear your crap news.
If you can, give your brain permission to put it in a compartment called 'I'll tackle that tomorrow' and open a bottle of wine this evening.
You clearly have remarkable qualities, which will all be used when the Thing You're Meant To Be Doing With Your Life jumps out at you.
You're in my thinking space (as I start my long-postponed tidying, largely thanks to your oomph).
Love and a hug

Hi Lynz,
Sorry to hear your news. How about that disability rights org, sounds like you need someone to fight your corner with you at the moment.
I think when you said controller job at a cab office you meant cab as in taxi? But howaout a job with the CAB? As an ex CABer myself I'd say it would be right up your street. It is face to face with the public but as you're there to help the clients rather that gatekeep for access to services it isn't particularly stressful. You shouldn't need much training on the debt counselling side lol.

no I meant cabs as in taxis
I wouldnt mind a slice back of what Ive paid them over the years
I am going to investigate today, need to call acas shortly to see if Im allowed to work elsewhere while waiting for a job to come up at work.
Lets see. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

How much is it costing you in lost benefits to hold on to your 'non' job? I think you need to sit down and decide a limit on how long you will wait for the sake of your sanity.
Have you got your employment contract? That might have some guidance on whether you are allowed to work elsewhere. But if you are in a situation where they are not paying you but you are not able to claim benefits because you are theoretically employed, it is madness if you are not allowed to take on a second job. I think you should push them much harder, either to give you paid work to do or to confirm that it is OK for you to work elsewhere while you are waiting.0 -
Hi lynz
I've PM'd you...hope that's OK.

OK
Heres the outcome. Spoke with the Acas.
The upshot is :
There is nothing legally barring me whatsoever in taking on a second job, even when signed off sick. ( DID anyone know that- its boggling!)
I need to check my contract to see if there is anything about conflict of interest. If there is then I need to seek legal advice as to whether my contract is legal & take steps with that.
Will use legal cover thats included with my home insurance.
Otherwise there is nothing at all stopping me from finding another job, be it part or full time.
