I think you may qualify for free prescriptions soon though...NHS low income scheme
You qualify for the NHS low income scheme if you:
* Receive Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, or
* Receive Working Tax Credit and Disability Element, or
* Receive Child Tax Credit only and work less than 16 hours a week
and have a household income of less than £14,600
If you meet these criteria you can get free prescriptions, free eye tests, free dental check-ups, vouchers towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses and travel costs to hospital
Doesn't help loads now - in fact NOW I would go and get twenty quid off your parents. Health first!Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
The NHS pre-payment system is worth doing, but you have to have money upfront to pay for it. I have two chronic conditions, needing 7 items a month, so I save money, but the fact that I pre-pay means that I am counted as getting FREE prescriptions in the government's figures, which I think is outright dishonest.0

Oh lynz, honey, I'm so sorry to hear that you've been so miserable. I wish there was something practical that I could do but I totally understand you not wanting to accept cash - despite how totally 100% we'd be happy to help you out!
You seem to have made some positive steps and your positive outlook in the face of all this is inspirational :T
Best of luck with sorting everything out dear, feel free to pm me if you need to chat anytimex

I do hope if you need benefits you find one that gets you freebies. DLA doesn't entitle you, and nor does Incapacity Benefit.
Paying VAT on dentistry is just great, isn't it?0 -

Im hanging in there. Feel a bit better now as the guy from the union is really spot on and keen to make things better so I dont feel so on my lonesome with it all.
It was all a bit crap this morning, but I seem to perk up as things have improved a bit during the day. I just need it to rain and clear the air its just so hot and im faint, but aside from that, Im powering on:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? We should all learn to live without frivolous indulgences like dentistry, sanitary towels and suncream for children. Did you hear the Treasury's PREPOSTEROUS advice in reply to the campaign to get VAT taken off kids' sunscreen? Parents should protect children's skin by dressing them in long trousers and wrist length tops! (yesterday).
I write to my MP from time to time. It rarely achieves anything, but it makes her earn her keep a bit, and sometimes being stroppy keeps me going.0 -

I wonder if in Bermuda they have the same approach to thier childrens care? As bournemouth was hotter than the carribbean this week?
Although I dodge the taxman by buying kids trainers, and on my thinner days, kids tops. And dodge the starred items on my recipts for even more moneysaving :money::beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most?
