When I've felt depressed in the past I have always found reading a great comfort. If you enjoy a good book, once you start you will be amazed at how much it will take you out of yourself. If you've got a library near you it wont cost you anything to stock up with all kinds of literary treats. It is worthwhile because you can catch up with all the books youve always meant to read but never had time. I know it is frustrating to be off work when you have debt but you must be getting sick pay and you are saving money on tube and bus fares or shoe leather! Perhaps you should avoid cash in the attic but if you like sport theres the World Cup games during the daytime to enjoy and Wimbledon starts soon. There are old films on tv which are sometimes a treat to watch. How about writing an e-book while youve got the time and making some money doing that? I seem to remember there were some posts about that a while ago. Or how about doing competitions on line? I know someone at work who enters about 200 competitions a week and she wins something at least once a month. She is always boasting about it. One of her best prizes was a trip to Kenya but she has been to Belgium recently and had several other trips. Shes won quite a lot of other stuff too, money etc. You can get a form filler so it isnt tedious. Hope Ive given you some ideas that might occupy you a bit.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Hi Lynz
Sorry to hear that you've been having a bad day. We haven't "spoken" before, but I enjoy reading your threads on this board and just wanted to add that I hope that tomorrow is better for you.:D

P.S. Oh heck, "I enjoy reading your threads" makes me sound like some kind of stalker/freak(!!) doesn't it?!:o Its not intended in that way, but at this time of the morning (I can't sleep either - mixture of heat/can't switch off thoughts! ) my brain is not up to re-arranging the words properly. Anyway, just wanted to send my support and say I hope you feel better about things soon...!:cool:0 -
PIglet what are you doing up at this time
- ah same as me...I cant sleep, too hot....
Well i decided tonight, stuff it, im going shopping tomororw. Im going to be really adventurous & wild and buy a fan for the bedroom & some essential oils for burning. So Ill feel like im splurging when Im not really!! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

You go for it:dance: - in this heat a fan is essential and if the oils mean that you're not posting on here at 3am then they're probably worth it, too;) !
Mind you, I had "words" with OH yesterday...:o We have a fan in the bedroom (and its great!) but he wanted to go to Homebase/B&Q and pick up another one for the lounge, and I told him (as chief "keeper of the bank accounts") that we can't afford it this month. Am beginning to re-think my decision - in truth, we can afford it...I think the heat was just making me grumpy so I was in an argumentative mood(!!!):wall: . And given that I'm supposed to be bright-eyed and bushy tailed at work by 8am in the morning, I really need to be pootling off to bed sooner rather than later...!
Had told myself that I'd be in bed by 3am - maybe I'll aim for 3.30am instead...:p

Lynz, what Tes said is a food plan. Look at the free comps on https://www.loquax.co.uk, enter some comps and ebay what you win. I have lost interest to be honest but for a while I was entering some daily, I had three prizes each month varying from DVDs to an Ipod. I also won £140 worth of reusable nappies which I ebayed. Using Roboform as a form filler makes it easier. If you look on the forms there you will see how much some people win, its amazing.
Hope you got some sleep,
