I do not feel you are 'in the firing line' at all here - and I cannot see where I have questioned your intentions...
I am sorry if my replies were not helpful enough - I can only speak from my own experiences but I will not waste any more time on this thread, good luck with your pup.
No, I have been under firing line few weeks back on it was not pleasant at all.
I already got the info in what to look in a pup for then from Suki who I remember well was one of the very few nice people here.
I am not saying that your replies are not helpful enough, some of them are, but some of your comments are underminding.0 -
All my OH is affraid is that the dog will end up sleeping with me in the bed..
All my previous dogs did. But then I was just a child/teenager. I will not let the dog sleep with me again.
What about insurance?
Who is good?????
Hehehehehe I said the same
I now have a KINGSIZE bed, and often find myself off the edge after the hubby and dog have stretched out

Hubby does go on a bit about it, but then the next thing hes carrying the dog into the bedroom with him :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
This board can get a bit overbearing at times, but FCs heart is in the right place. We do get a lot of people coming on who are struggling with the impact of a puppy on their daily lives, and would clearly have been better off with an adult dog or maybe waiting a year or so. Not suggesting you are or will be one of them, as you are obviously planning ahead.

Do re-read his posts at some point and pick out the useful parts, it really might save you a lifetime of heartache with this puppy's health. Sadly there are some breeders (puppy farmers) that do not care about the dogs health as long as they turn a profit. I consider myself pretty intelligent and I have had dogs, but I still wouldn't know how to tell a good breeder from a clever trickster.
No, I know there is a lot of people like that out there but I have already been under the firing line and I said that in my first post.
That is precisely my point - the nastiest of people are usually the clever ones and if they have something to hide they will try to hide it and fake it and I doubt that even the Gods on here would know the difference. If one had to listen to everything that is said on here then dogs would die out within 15 yrs.0 -

Men are funny like that.
When I was little and had my first dog, my father said that he is strongly against it and that if mum gets and I fail to take it out and feed she has to take the responsibility. He is NOT doing anything.
Couple of weeks later I found him sneaking in at night (he is a chef) and giving the dog full bowl of lean meat and watching TV with it!!!0 -
As for insurance, I cant help but there is a long thread as a sticky at the top of the page.
If the pup isnt coming with the free 6 weeks insurance, then I would advise getting the best cover you can find sorted tomorrow before taking pup to vet the day after.
Get insurance in place first but dont wait too long on getting the pup seen ( should be in 24hrs of bringing home)
The insurance you are looking for is lifetime cover. That is that if the dog develops say diabetes, hes covered all his life for drugs and care, not just for a set amount then you have to find the rest. You need that more then you need high liability insurance (house insurance usually covers) or lost and found or death cover - they are all extras0 -

You know if you don't want to takes someones advice or opnion you don't have to. There is no need to be rude. If you disagree with something someone said you can argue agasint it but to just dismiss people as rude and nasty because you don't agree with what they say is pretty awful. Everyone has their viewpoint and opnion. Its up to you to decide whose you agree with the most.
By the way the nastiest person on here doesn't seem too bright so I would disagree with the nastiest people being the most clever.0 -
Have never actually had a pup (as always got rescue dogs-just my preference) but my last dog was 11months old when we got him and hadnt been properly toliet trained, and came from a foster home where he was 1 of 11 dogs! so did have some of the same proplems as a puppy.
When we 1st brought him home (this was 15 years ago by the way) didnt even consider a crate, not sure they were widely used then? But my grandparents were adament that he must stay downstairs, so we tried a warm hot water bottle, ticking clock etc. After about 4 hours of constant howling, i heard my grandad go down to the dog, let him out for a wee, then bring him upstairs! After this he slept wherever he liked-usually on my bedroom floor/bed or at the top of the stairs keeping guard.
We had months of house training him, possibly made worse by his age, and fact he had been abit trained. But he was a nightmare and would !!!! his leg on any furniture at the appropriate height! Even though we used to take him out regulary. Eventually though he did get completely housetrained and never had any more issues.
I guess alot of it depends upon the dog thought, as we have had other rescue dogs who have just settled in straight away, as if they own the place! And im guessing the same can be said for some puppys.0 -

I expect this will be construed as me being mean, but it is worth knowing about...I would think EVERY dog should be vet checked on regular basis, not just if they are going to breed.
And I seriously doubt that someone would knowingly breed a dog with illness full stop. Even bad people are not that thick.
please google syringomyelia cavalier
...then you may understand why I am saying health checks on dogs are important, particularly when that dog is a CKCS cross.0 -

Please give it a rest now, you said you weren't going to spend any more time on the thread.
The OP is upset by your comments, rightly or wrongly. Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

You know people should realise this board people can say what they want. If anyone disagrees with it they are welcome to argue agasint it but I do not think its right to start telling people they shouldn't post on a subject anymore. Subjects will natrually come to an end not when people decide they come to an end (apart from moderators close them. Obviously)0
