I checked mine every couple of minutes and it started to be uncontrollable around 8 minutes, but appears to be setting, although somewhat unevenly. It may be one of those things that takes practice and testing ;)

It's also worth remembering that different microwaves have different powers - mine is 800W - so it won't take the same time in every microwave.

Microwave tablet - Mine is setting now, method worked really well so far. Hoping to give some as gifts, better freeze it or I'll eat it! Going to try putting rum and raisins int he next batch, or does that only work with fudge?

Does anyone know how long tablet lasts (if well-hidden from human predators).

TBH I'm not sure, the last batch I made went mouldy at about 3 weeks old.

Having said that, I'd made double the quantity and put it in a plastic tub out of reach. Normally it would disappear from the tray within a couple of days if being made so I've nothing to compare it to.

Mine didn't set well in the end so I reboiled it with a new batch on the stove where I could tell more easily what it was up to and it was fine. It has now been packed up for presents - I'm hoping it will last longer than 3 weeks given the amount of sugar in it! I think the microwave method might work for me once I've got the hang of what it is supposed to look like when ready, although i'm not entirely convinced given that it boils over so easily in the MW.
  • Just thought Id bring this thread back to the top with a different question.....does anyone know how to make yum yums???? I have looked everywhere for a recipe but not sure if thats even the right name!! Cant find a recipe anywhere
