write the book, it would be uplifting, not depressing and such an antidote to all the nasty stuff in the media about "benefit scroungers". You are pro-active, a great mum and express yourself so well with such humour even when things sound really grim. Go for it!

Glad meeting was OK - been away for 2 days without internet connection and couldn't wait to catch up to see how you were!

WRITE THAT BOOK! You write really well and it's great fun reading what you've been doing and you've got a great way with words. You've, sadly, got experience of frugal living - and in this current climate it should be a book that would sell quickly.

Even if financially it's not the answer, I bet it would be a good start.

Not sure I could cope with a pink kitchen - but at least it will be bright!

    Take care

  • just sat and read your thread thru - i so hope you get your money back and quickly.

just a couple of thoughts to try and help you save or make more money...

have you thought about pet sitting and/or dog walking? there would be a lot of work around over the xmas holidays too.

also, when shopping at tescos, do you collect and use money-off-coupons to use there? you don't even have to buy the item as long as they stock it. along the same lines sign up to lots of product/baby sites and they will send you out coupons every so often - there are threads on the site devoted to it.;)
  • Now I need to sort out a way of earning £20 per week to pay for DS school lunches.
    Memorygirl.

PS: Been thinking about your suggestion that I write a book -
As a budding author - surely you buy a lot of books very cheaply second hand/boot sales and once read sell them on Amazon, large volumes and trading you'd hit tax issues but someone on benefits with all the time in the world must read half a dozen books which sell at £1-3 plus £2-3p&p a week ;)

    Hi MG

With all your skills you should be able to help out lots of people for a few quid at a time. Do you have a local shop that you can put an add in ?
  • Hi Mg

How's it going, I always feel do much better after reading your posts andI go off and do something positive, so think how fab and inspiring your book could be. Good wishes to you and your boys

What about trying to write an article for a paper or magazine. I think a book would take too long to get published. Not sure how you go about it but I am sure some one will know. I think Prima magazine are publishing stories from readers at the moment.
I do admire your tenacity by the way. I think I would be a gibbering pulp by now if I had had to put up with your problems. Keep up the good work I am sure you will win in the end.

  • Hi Memory Girl,

Before having my baby I used to read your old thread. A year on and I've just come back on here to find out what's happening. V shocked at the way the bank treated you and, as always, SO impressed by your positive attitude. I really hope you have time to write that book.

    Really good luck,

    Paddington
