  • Memorygirl I am so glad to hear you have good girlfriends, was going to post and ask you if you get any adult time out and support as it's so important. Glad to hear that do. Loved the cookery details. I am a great fan of red lentils, me and son used to have dahl, lentil soup, lentil bake, lentil and tuna lasange (in fact am going to make some lentil soup in slow cooker today). Let us know how things are progessing, we are all rooting for you and the boys. I think you should write a book, you have a great way with language and a terrific sense of humour. Maybe something in diary format with your brilliant money saving tips and recipies included. I am sure it would inspire others in similar circumstances "Memory Girl's Memoirs"? Great revenge on the bank to get it published and out in the public arena

My Girlfriends have just finished reading this thread - more to bring them up to date as to where we are - and also I must confess so that I don't have to rehash everything and end up in tears again.

I've decided I am going to keep a diary - maybe one day in an alternate universe it might even be published.

Hows this for a working title??
    " 21p and Three Nappies"

Now I want to extend my fantasy with the bank to include presenting him with the first copy off the press - signed in red ink of course :rotfl::rotfl:. Well they are not gettin gmy real blood.

Off to the shops to create an abundant stock-cupboard :T

    Memorygirl

Oops BGF says to tell you the reason I have so little in the cupboards is that I have just finished acquiring and fitting an el cheapo kitchen as this house didn't have one - not that I am an irresponsible Mum who doesn't buy food and spends all her benefits on booze n fags.

I had actually saved £100 to stock my kitchen next week - but the pennies are gone.

    Oh TMVen.

Take care of yourself and treat yourself kindly.

My suggestion for housework - either live with not doing any:rotfl:..... but lets face it who can or........

I fill the kettle and set myself up with a cup of coffee ready to fill, put a really rocking CD in the player, fill the kitchen sink with hot soapy water and set my kitchen timer for fifteen minutes.

Count to ten, press go on the timer and spend a mental 15 minutes whizzing around doing what needs sorting. When the buzzer goes I settle down with my cuppa and let myself off any more housework - unless I feel like I can cope with another 15 minutes later.

Today - before the Girlfriends came I -

threw the washing up in the bowl to soak
Put a cup of water in the micro and set it for 3 mins (easy to clean after its been steamed)
popped a load of washing in the machine and set it running
Wiped out the micro - did the outside too
Put a box of HM soup from the freezer into the micro to defrost
Danced with the baby to Robbie - lol
Measured rice and channa dal into a bowl to soak for khichiri
Put the breadmaker on with granary loaf
Wiped the front of kitchen cabinets
Swept the kitchen floor (its ply so I don't wash it just wipe)
Made my bed - incl all the cushions
    Made my DS bed
    Emptied his hot water bottle
Plumped up the cushions on the sofa
Wiped the surfaces in the kitchen
Did the washing up and left iton the drainer
Put bleach down the sink and in the loo
Pulled the hoover out and put it in DS room (his job is to hoover)
    Wiped the coffee table

The buzzer went and I flopped down with my cuppa............Whew!!!!!

OK so its not really "cleaning" but everything looks so much straighter and makes me feel better.

Also I get quite breathless running around like a headcase so it must be making me fitter - the baby does laugh at me though.

When housework really gets too much for me I pull out a headscarf that I own (and tie it on like Nora Batty) I put on an apron and put my cleaning box by the front door.

I then march around the block as quick as I can - pretending that I am late for work and burst back into the house again as my very own "Woman What Does" and clean like I am a professional - into all the corners and everything.

Neighbours must think I am crazy :rotfl::rotfl:

    Maybe thery are right:eek:

    Memorygirl

Be kind........... be easy on yourself. Good luck with the budget though - and if you feel up to it try creating a meal plan of things you like. "Proper food" like my Mam says - not "snacky stuff". I find that always helps me feel better if I take the time to take care of me.

  • You are an amazing woman - and I cannnot believe the bank would treat you so appallingly. You sound to me like you have yourself as sorted as you can be - and, like many others, I love the fantasy. But ... they always say that the way to achieve what you want is to be clear in your goals - and I think you're very clear!

If you want a PAYG phone - really very very very old Tesco mobile one (does SMS and calls but is in black and white and doesn't take photos!) then PM me - I'd very happily send it to you if it would help.

    Take care

Is your little one in size 3 nappies? I have a box of huggies here which are too small for my little girl and I can't swap them. They're sitting in my garage waiting for someone to make use of them. PM me if you want them and I'll send them monday. :)

    Hi Memory Girl,

Just thought I would pop on to say good luck with everything and offer my support!

I don't think there is anything I can say as everyone else is so much more experienced than me so good luck again with everything.

Erm!!!! cos I am pretty sure he's married:rotfl:

    4. Because if I named the other actor I quite fancy and admitted that I've fancied him since I was thirteen and we were at school together you might be able to work out who I am - :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Many thanks but I have a older model mobile that is way out of contract that I keep on a PAYG basis.

Never really been one for the newest all-singing all-dancing models. As long as I have a phone to make calls with when I have a kiddie based emergency I am contented.

Makes my blood run cold thinking I could be here alone at night without a phone if I needed to call the emergency services or something -

Thank you very much for your kind offer though

My big boy is in size 4's. But thank you so very much for you kind offer - I'm sure you will find someone else who needs them more than me. (Today we bought 2 bags with Tesco vouchers so I am never going to being the position I was on Tuesday)

GOOD NEWS - MY CUPBOARDS ARE FLLING UP

Between us we had £72 in Tesco vouchers and £15 from me selling a crochet bag I've made. We've just about spent the lot. £9.80 left for milk n stuff for a while.

I have loads of storecupboard stuff in now:

Pastas, noodles, rices, tinned toms and tuna. Loads if dried beans and pulses. Rubber chicken, sausages, cheese (incl my sons favourite treat Dairylea). Mince, beef, pork and chicken bits in the freezer.. £3.00 for a huge sack of potatoes from a local farmer.

One of my pals took the £15 and went to her Chinese Cash n Carry and came back laden with dried stuff, curry pastes and Tom Yum Soup bases (My guilty treat).

Of course lots of cereal ,porridge, flour for baking and for bread, sugar, oil, yeast.

We were women on a mission - with clipboards and calculators.

I bet I could stretch this stuff out till Christmas if I was carefull.

Also donated some manky bananas from a GF who's cat I fed today (made into teeny individual loaves of banana bread for DS supper treat. And a kholrabi????????? I'm not sure either but it came in a veg box. If nothing else I'm sure it can be made into a curry or soup or something.

And ...................... a dinky little one-glass size bottle of Cava!!!!! Mind you its been so long since I had a drink (with being pregnant and now breast feeding - not that I have an alcohol problem you understand!!:rotfl:) that I'm not sure I can trust myself to drink it. Maybe I will save it for tuesday after my CCCS meeting.

I AM DOWN BUT I AM NOT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Many thanks everyone
