And there is a 3 day strike scheduled for next week.

The words cutting off your nose to spite your face come to mind.
  • Erm..... That is one big leap from everyone paying taxes and being able to use the NHS, to the tax payer subsidising the private sector by keeping their employees fit and healthy.

You lost me there. Private and public sector workers both pay tax and can both use the NHS.

Ok, I admit, I wasn't really being serious but some of the ideas I have heard on here are equally ridiculous. Seriously though, we could totally dismantle government as some seem to be suggesting but there will be consequences like a US style health care system or more expensive post.

My Postman has just delivered my post (strange that....cos he normally delivers my Milk )

11:45......that's earlier than usual too !!!!

Mine cuts hedges, with a tractor, that is. I made the faux pas of employing someone else when I arrived here, upsetting years of tradition.:o
Never mind, it will be the postie's turn next time, hopefully before he starts a shredding service as well....

ETA: Incidentally, custardy, when I lived in the city, the post was delivered by van to a 'safe house' in our street, (owned by pensioners) and then, later, the postie would turn up and deliver them. Would that be normal, or was someone being 'creative' to get the round done quicker/more easily?

Just walked past an official picket line on the way to work.

It's strange seeing how they are fighting for their jobs by choosing not to work. I do feel sorry for them but all the emails I've had from the past 2 days are from companies I order from online assuring me that they have alternative delivery couriers in place. How many of them will return to Royal Mail once the strikes are over?

many said the same in 2007,in fact i remember Amzon doing it for xmas then flooding RM's system a few days before xmas to try and het their items delivered
im not saying its a hige risk, but the fact is if things keep going the way they are under current RM plans then how many companies would continue to use RM when their packets sit in a delivery office for days on end as theres no staff to deliver them?
