true lol there is no bell!
in many ocassions , the bell rings, i run to the door, to find a red letter ''sorry you were out'' , i get outside and no postie to be seen!!!!!!!!!
ps;
im lightweight and can run faster than a postie so no delay of me opening the door, our house is far too small, and whne we go to collect at local depot , they say ''royal mail hasnt delivered it yet here ''
what a bunch of posties! not a big simpathy for alan crozier, but i wish he hires these 30 000 temporary staff forever .
i selfemployed and with no pension, i can finish even at 11 am but the posties are fuilly employed, want to finish at 12 am and get full pay,,, i think they are used to this culture for a half century now and cant accept that modernisation is on the doorstep
so you havent read any of my posts i see
try these
interesting all the talk of modernisation is about machines yet your comment is about delivery posties :rolleyes:0 -
So sorry to butt in on a debate... but I've always wondered- where do posties go to the loo? And where do they take their coffee break etc?... about delivery posties

anywhere you can
theres no real set procedure
generally make sure you go before you are out on the street
if you are 100% residential then it can be a problem
coffee breaks? oh no we cant have posties lounging around on the streets
usual plan is 1/2 your breakbefore leaving and 1/2 at the end
hold on thats finishing early.........kill them0 -
I ask because I often see my postie sat down the end of the road on bench there, eating a biscuit bar or something, usually about 12. Feel very sorry for him when its raining.... Not a great lunch break is it?!anywhere you can

Suppose it was a nice job years ago (or maybe still is in smaller communties?) stop for a cup of tea and sarnie here and there... but not now I don't reckon..
I imagined it might be the case of 'as and when'
for the loo- bit more difficult for the postwomen though! We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. Carl Jung

If royal mail put prices up to stop this ''subsidy'' and private sector ''gets real'' and covers it, prices go up for everyone using the private sector and posties get...more money but evrything in life is more expensive....Or not?
(lir doesn't have a clue.)
Yes, that is true but that is exactly what needs to happen if we are to have a proper open market with minimum government intervention. Thats where we are headed if Royal Mail gets privatised anyway.
You can take things further still. Should the tax payer subsidise the private sector by keeping their employees fit, healthy and efficient on the NHS? Maybe employers should pay for health insurance for their employees, just like in the US. Why get the government involved?
Of course things will be more expensive but at least you'll pay less tax.0 -

Erm..... That is one big leap from everyone paying taxes and being able to use the NHS, to the tax payer subsidising the private sector by keeping their employees fit and healthy.
You lost me there. Private and public sector workers both pay tax and can both use the NHS.I don't have to run faster than the bear.....I just need to run faster than you!0 -

Thanks for that, what an interesting concept, I can pick up my post at my local store till 9pm at night. No traipsing around on a saturday morning.
I'd like to empathise with the strikers but they have just shot themselves in the foot. Royal Mail needs to modernise to make money so more businesses continue to use them (we all know the joe public mail isn't worth much) but they won't be able to attract businesses to continue to use them.
At work, it's cheaper for us to send a package via DHL than Royal Mail because they give us such a big bulk discount.0
