    Hello Folks

It's been a while since I posted on here - been too busy with work!

However, I was asked to make a birthday cake with a gardening theme, which turned out to be quite difficult at this time of year! lol

Anyway, I was asked to make it with cream towels - so the ingredients are, some bulbs in the base, some packets of seeds around the inside edge, a decorative little bucket on top holding some gardening gloves, a floral candle ring, a flower necklace, and a cute little strawberry which is actually a folding shopping bag.

    Hope she likes it!

    Hiya,

Just thought i would post a wedding towel cake i made, he last one i made had a bottle of bubbly in so to make it look right i ended up using 2 kitchen roll tubes in the middle!

Also i have made this present/parcel it has nappys & baby wipes in it but i'm sure it could be done with just towels

    Hi all

I just wanted to say how amazing your cakes are!!! I would love to have a go, and just wondered how many towels/what size you use for a 2 and a 3 tier cake??

Oh also, can you tell me how you keep the layers to stay together on top of each other??

    Many thanks

    Hi Duemarch

It looks lovley, but is it maybe because the bottom layer of ribbon is slipping? I'm not sure?

How many towels did that one take?

    Hi Jill

When I do a three tier, I use 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 2 face cloths usually.

If I do a 2 tier, then I usually use 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels - however having said that it all depends on how you fold them, it's amazing the different look you can get just by folding them in a different way each time.

I think it looks lovely but if you want us to be ultra critical I think if you stare at it for long enough the top ribbon is slightly too high, the middle too low and the bottom too high? Basically the ribbons need to be straitened, however being a raving fan of cello wrap (??) I would leave it as it is - looks good!!
  • Hmmmm I was going to do some towel cakes today, my first ones ever, but having looked here I dont think I'm ready to start :o

I've got towel bales with 2x bath towels, 2x hand towels & 2x face clothes for each one. A bottle of wine to go in the middle and 2 showel cremes for each one and a body puff for each one. And some nice thick ribbon to go around the tiers. Oh, also a few gold bath pearls to decorate each
Looking at all the bits you put in yours mine may be a bit disappointing :(
I cant afford to get much else to go in, any ideas? I have 2 cakes to make

They dont have to be full of goodies, what you have sounds fine, Ive hardly anything in mine. Have got some more to make up later that will literally just be towels and ribbon. Give it a go!
