Thanks for all that FF

I knew you would know the answer :T

In that case i might get some when we go shopping on Saturday and it could be their weekend treat :D
Do you think i should just give them that or some wet food after or just go by if they are still hungry or not?
"I am an insomniac, so I was really excited when I was able to get a full night's sleep. I said to a friend, 'Just keep your fingers crossed that I get lucky again tonight!' Realizing what I said, I tried to correct it and said, 'No, I mean, I just hope that I get some tonight!' After that, I decided to shut up."

I'd wait until they are hungry and give it instead of a pouch for one meal and then feed them as normal the rest of the day. There is plenty of meat on a Smartprice wing, you could probably split one wing between two and then see how it sits with their stomachs. Noah would have eaten more, he was still begging but he is greedy anyway! :p

Let us know how you get on - Lostinrates was saying on the other thread that he had to tempt his cats at first as they didn't really know raw meat was food, tie a string on and pull it around the floor! But honestly Noah was straight in there, quite unlike the RC food that he only ate when starving.

She ;) was indeed saying just that.

Mine are just like noah now, about raw.

The dogs never queried it. But then they would eat anything I fed them I think.:rotfl:

Apparently because cats have a much shorter digestive tract than humans they are far less likely to have problems with salmonella. In the long intestine of a human bacteria will have much more time to multiply and cause a problem.
In terms of portion size I have found Paddy to be much more satisfied with raw wings etc than he was with premium dry food, it takes him longer to eat and keeps him fuller for longer. I give him a whole wing and a chicken heart as a portion.
Only feed raw on an easily wiped and disinfected surface...it does get quite messy...but as FF says it is so rewarding to see their response!

  • This may be a silly question but do you have to freeze the chicken wings then defrost before giving it to the cats?
  • Also, if you cook a joint of lamb - shoulder or leg, then your cats will love picking off any cooked meat still left on them. And the bones are big enough that they can't get splinters. A favourite is any knuckle end.

My cat will also got mad for a bit of raw minced beef if I'm cooking with it, also chicken breast trimmings - not too much though because he will wolf them down and then puke!
  • If you can get your cat off wet food then do it. It's mainly water and sugar. Not good for them. Dry food and raw meat is so much better. And dry food is cheaper
