Moved from Chelmsford, Essex to Stamford, Lincs..
....and my car insurance has gone up by £16 when I advised the change of address! Not sure why that would be seeing as I moved from a main town in Essex to a small Lincolnshire town. Oh well, will have to search around for a better quote when the renewal comes

Are you sure the £16 was for change of post code and not simply a change of details charge?0

Fair enough, seems very strange to me, I would have thought that Stamford was a lower risk area than any part of Essex.0

If you say so...
I think if I was given the choice of parking my car overnight on the road, I would choose Stamford over any part of Essex. 0 -
It all depends on the amount of claims that have been made around that area, you can't possibly predict it.
For the record my OH's insurance went down moving to a large, almost city-like, town from a small sleepy village.
Also, Essex is much more than just the chavvy image it is portrayed as. It is a pretty affluent area in most parts, and this may be why the claim rate is lower. Stamford, Lincs, is not a nice area as I recall....0 -
Stamford is by the A1 as well as being close to Northants & Cambs and there may a theft of/from vehicle problem in your postcode. Any change in insurance circumstances will incur a cost. I had to pay over £18 just to get another driver added on for two days and that was over 10% of my total for a year's fully comp.....and my car insurance has gone up by £16 when I advised the change of address!
