Sensible postage capping I can understand but enforced free postage just means it's not worth my while listing 95% of my items any more.
Totally agree. i gave up with amazon i have a few oversize books that sold for basiclly nothing and the post was £5 - £7. its a totally pointless excerise. :mad:0 -
i've been clearing out my garage and selling quite a few items listed at 99p with very fair postage charge (e.g. just postage at cost - not factoring in my time and trouble.) my listings will now cease. think it's an utterly daft policy.0

Ebay kind of do that as well, if you've got low DSR ratings you get lowered search visibility (meaning people are less likely to find your item).Besides, the other main complaint on this board is about DSR ratings and Ebay coming down too hard on people getting low scores from buyers for postage on the star system. Surely those that abuse the system could be barred using that information rather than penalising everyone else.
Why not just pay the 15p to list your items? You know, like you'd have had to a year or so ago.i've been clearing out my garage and selling quite a few items listed at 99p with very fair postage charge (e.g. just postage at cost - not factoring in my time and trouble.) my listings will now cease. think it's an utterly daft policy.
It's amazing how quickly people forget that, not that long ago, ebay didn't have a free sub-99p listing policy :rolleyes:Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Danger is, the risk that the item does not sell. So you re-list, and re-list and before you know it you have paid more in 15p's than you will ever sell for.
I put stuff on in March when the free 99p came in , auto-re-list if it does not sell and it's still selling today after 20 or so listings- i'd have paid a fortune in fees.0 -

Ebay don't want their servers clogged with stagnant stock that just sits there, it's not practical for their resources (primarily, server space). You do get 1 free relist (I think it's only free if it actually sells second time round, though
), but if it doesn't sell after those 2 attempts, it's possible it never will... Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

If you have an item that needs relisting that often you should probably consider throwing it away, either that or get several similar items and sell as a joblot.Danger is, the risk that the item does not sell. But why ? What I have learnt is that everything sells eventually. Once it's listed it's no real skin of my nose whether it goes 1st time or 21st time.
In my experience, job lots often don't achive their true value (but i do love to buy them for that odd bit of treasure in there).0 -
Ok, so I was fairly annoyed before, but now I'm hopping up and down and biting the keyboard!
Have been trying to find out who to complain to about the policy changes. I'm not a professional complainer, just thought this time I'd bother to jot a few words down. Sent an email to customer services and got some standard blurb back about needing to respond to buyers needs. I asked who I could complain to..... and got the same answer. I asked what their formal complaints procedure was. No reply. In the end I felt like Paxman, asking the same question over and over. After 4 emails I got a bee in my bonnet and used the live chat facility.
I don't get stroppy or abusive so very nicely asked if they could tell me how to make a complaint about an ebay policy. I was told to email ebay. I explained I'd done this several times and part of my complaint was now about customer services not replying. I was told to email ebay. I asked if I could speak to a manager or a supervisor. I was told to email ebay. I asked if there was a postal address or a named person to contact. I was told to email ebay.
In other words, if you have a complaint about customer service, you email customer service. If they choose not to reply, your only option is to email the same people who haven't replied.

I know what did people do before March (I think it was)?! Ah I know they listed items at prices to make sure they covered there costs. Now they just list any old Tat at 99p, which is why in my book the Free P&P can be counted as a good thing as it might get rid of a lot of the rubbish that appeared after the introduction of the 99p listings.0 -
I have just tried re-listing all my 99p items which are lots of comic books mainly and patterns which would cost be a fortune to list at 10-15p an item. They don't go flying out but I do sell a couple each week. I couldn't believe it when a message came up telling me to reduce my p&p to 0.00! This rules out ebay for me too I'm not a pro seller I just sell my junk for a few extra pounds to put in savings for the future. I never listed much before the free 99p listings just on items that were worth more or I waited for the cheap or free listing days. Think I will job lot mine on free ads or something.0
