If you have leftover mash, it's nice fried up with grated cheese mixed in until brown all over. Alternatively, mix mash with same quantity of tinned salmon or tuna, season with salt, pepper, parsley and lemon juice, shape into rounds and put in fridge to firm up for a while. Fry up in hot pan - hey presto, home-made fish cakes!

OMG  how do you cope with a husband who hates mash?!

We really like mash with toad in the hole, carrots, peas and gravy.....mmmmm!

For proper comfort food mash with cauliflower cheese is also very good.

My dh would far rather have pasta or rice than potatoes. he's away a lot at the moment. One day this week ds was out as well. Some time ago I put some individual servings of mash in the freezer. On another occasion I had too much cabbage, but knowing it would go off in the fridge I cooked the lot lightly and put it in the freezer.

This week, on my own I got one package of chopped bacon from the freezer along with one of mash and a handful of cabbage. Mushrooms from the fridge and had a sort of bubbly squeaky thing. It was lovely with a squirt of ketchup and nice comfort food that didn't take long to prepare or make lots of washing up. Perfect. :money:as well!
