by taking down names and confirming that once in stock we would be called and paymnt taken, it was an intention to create a legal contract. harrods publicly stated they would be for sale on a reservation basis. we were on the list.
harrods had stock but gave it away, again, for the £25 it costs to test the claim, it is worth a shot if negotiation fails and like the other issues i had in the past, people will soon file claims if one wins and i suspect this would be high profile.

How do you know the Meekkats were ever 'in stock'?

I think by taking the case further your giving this site abit of a bad name. You said you were happy to pay more for a Meekat so why not just bid for one on EBay?

I see from a previous thread he is taking this website to court as well so I doubt he will be concerned about the reputation of this site and all to do with trying to make himself look big.

This is a genuine question- what do you hope to acheive by taking legal action? Compensation or a meerkat?

I know it's a genuine question, but it's so random/bizarre/comical that I almost want to use it as my signature for a while!

That's brilliant, that has just made my day ***giggles***

  • Wouldn't the best solution be for retail giant Harrods to shell out for the rights to make more of the fluffy creatures and sell them in the new year. Obviously pre-Christmas shoppers (like me) will be dissapointed, but they say they have 100's of 1000's of people interested. Then they could donate some of the profits to the charity's mentioned which would go further to diagnosing, treating and hopefully one day curing the diseases that blight these children's lives.

Can't believe no one's seconded this idea... Seems like the perfect solution, and I'm sure we can all cope with waiting a bit longer. Harrods certainly do seem to have had a knee-jerk reaction, it's not really fair to promise something to people, confirm it more than once, then simply post a response on your website.
  • Just had a call from Mark at Harrods. Poor sod sounded so sad and apologetic, going through his speech about my missing meerkat!

I cut him short and said I knew about it all, and I was delighted that sick children would benefit, but thought it had all been handled badly, and if there were only going to be a limited number available, then they should have closed the reservation list after that, etc etc.

He was amazed that they were going on ebay for £200 - and so am I!!! Ye Gods! It's a stuffed toy! Have now bought a very nice one on ebay, that looks really cute, for £7.70, including postage.

And I am sure my 71 year old DH will be thrilled!

    xx

I think this thread is an absolute disgrace, the way people are speaking to other people is disgusting.
People are allowed to have their own opinions, without being picked on and attacked for them.
I have reported this thread to be looked at by a BG as it is turning nasty, IMHO.

    Why oh why?
The posters especially Tbeckett100 are acting so selfish that they deserve everything they get.

Seroiusly why take legal action? Maybe he/she should leave it alone as the more they post the more they sound really childish.

There are really more serious things going on in life than losing out on a bl**dy meerkat.
