  • Based on the FACT that Santa MAY deliver one of the lovely pressies on their Christmas list, but only if they have been 'a good boy/girl' that year.....

Its a stuffed toy. That's it. A child of 3 wont know the difference between a stuffed toy made yourself (fashioned into a Meerkat) and that bought at Harrods.

Get things back into perspective. Kids have a gazillion things on their Christmas Lists - get them something else and leave these to go to charity. And yes there will be some on ebay - the same as there are any other desirable object. (Festival tickets...)

They won't miss it because they never had it and they never knew they were getting it either.

So Harrods give them to charity probably to stop them ending up on Ebay for silly prices and the charities ..... put them on Ebay! They have given them to the charities for the children, not to auction!

I can't believe that people are willing to pay such vast amounts of money for a soft toy just because it's this years "must have"! It's like cabbage patch dolls, Tracey Island, etc all over again. And as with all other "must have" toys they'll be forgotton about soon after Christmas.

Im sure they realised that some would end up on ebay, but i guess as its raising money for a good causes then they my guess would be they don't care :) :j

  • What would you rather? One child getting a teddy that they really aren't bothered about or the charity sell it on ebay and raise enough money to buy 10 children a toy they can actually play with!

Regarding some of the posts on here, for heaven's sake, teach your children that sometimes they can't have EVERYTHING that they want!
Smashed through my weightloss target. Looking at 120lbs+ loss. BMI over 40 down to 20.5. Training hard to get body fat under 20%, not far to go now :j
  • I just had the call from the bloke and although disappointed I was polite to the man and thanked him for his call to let me know. (they didn't have to do that, there was no legal obligation for them to sell the meerkats). By the relief in the mans voice and his sincere thanks for me being so understanding I would say he's suffered a fair bit of abuse this morning! Poor chap. Especially as whether you agree with the decision or not, that chap is only doing his job!!!

  • The charities have put them on eBay to raise money for each individual cause. Great idea I say!
If you want one enough your money will go to a very good cause. That was why Harrods gave them to the charities - for them to raise money!
Although I agree Harrods should have arranged this from the start rather than mucking people about.
Now let's all get on - It's Christmas!
