Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Monday 19th October. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS friends,

hgballoons.gifIvyleaf hon! bdaycake2.gif Hope you have a fabulous day.
Cranky - still thinking of you honey - have you picked up Pixel yet?
Bitsy - Congrats on getting the job and hope you feel better soon hon. I cannot use Vicks at present as I am on homeopathy and no mint is allowed near my person...
Mioliere - hope your OHs finger heals well.
Dizzybuff - Congrats on 12 yrs together
Beemuzed - glad you enjoyed Dublin.
Noahs - Hope Noah is feeling better today
Thriftlady - I don't fancy him either but on the Strictly Thread over in the Arms, there seems to be a fan base!
nmlc - I haven't drunk for a while but my OH used to say that on the odd occasion I did it was like I was a human pinball, banging into everything, so I can empathize!giggle.gif
Wow, wasn't the end of Harpers Island great? And all I can say is 'I said it was Henry, I said it was Henry, I SAID it was Henry!!'. Admittedly I suspected everyone at one point or another but once his brother died I just knew it was Henry. My OH was convinced it was Jimmy but as I said - wayyyy too obvious.
My OS-iness today will be limited I suspect. I STILL haven't any voice and coughing hurts my chest, but no sore throat or cold symptoms so that is a plus. I swear it's the echinacea - I started it too late to stop it completely but it's fending off the rest of the bugs. Well I believe it is, so even on the level of a placebo it's working!
I will finish my Tescos online shop today I hope and get some more done on the birthday cards I am making. Lunch is a little leftover chilli chicken which I shall prob slice and put into sandwiches and dinner is yet again TBC. *sighs*. I am such a bad meal planner at the moment. I just can't get excited about it.
Anyway, I hope everyones' week starts well. Someone pm-ed me to say they couldn't get the "Don't forget to Breathe" song link to work yesterday so with apologies for the duplication, try HERE.
With love, light and HShuggies.gif for everyone who would like one.

    Morning.

Day off for me today. First job is to clean out the hens and kill off some roosters for the freezer. Weed killer will be used on the driveway and generally get ready for winter. Sad thing to say, but I don't need lot's of rubbish lying about outside.
Roast lamb, or perhaps chicken for tea to celebrate daughters' 20th. It was really yesterday, but she was swanning about London.
I must e-bay stuff, I have a huge pile, but can't be bothered to stay indoors, maybe the rain on Tuesday will change that.

    Have a good day

    Morning all,

Happy Birthday to Ivyleaf :bdaycake:have a great day hun xxx
Well the weekend had been freezing here, the temp in my lounge went down to 12 degrees on saturday, so the heating went on for a few hours it was bliss, therte has been a sharp frost too, although it seems a bit warmer now, and the heating is off again.

Yesterday we cleared the loft out _pale__pale_ why oh why do we keep so much c**P , OH took a car full down the tip, and I have a car full for the charity shop, I had cleared it out a few years back and thought there was hardly anything up there

So we did not get round to cooking the roast, I shoved some jacket spuds in, and we have cheese and ham and tomatoes. So tonight will be roast chicken and all the trimmings. With cauli cheese and another veg.

I made a banana and walnut loaf yesterday, and come cookies, and OH mowed the lawn, and then went off to see a mate for a few hours, and the weekend was over  goes far too quickly.

I need to have a good clean through today, some washing and an online shop, oh and get the bits down the charity shop, and cook a roast chook.

I am hoping for a call from the estate agent today, so fingers crossed its good news.

Ok have good days all xx

    Morning everyone.
Still full of cold and now DD sounds as though she is too. I guess it's only a matter of time before DS gets it! He's been up since 5am (rolling around our bed I might add) so he's going to be shattered again.
Not much to report for today. New mum is coming round to sign contracts this morning and some one else is coming for some stuff I am freecycling. Other than that not a lot going on. DS was asking to do some baking yesterday so might try some cheese scones with him later.
Haven't read yesterdays thread yet so hugs to those that need them.

Diva - could you tolerate some steaming instead? I do find that useful.
NPM - hope Noah is feeling a little better xx
N9eav - Belated happy birthday to your daughter.

Have a good day all OS or not.

    Edited to say:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ivyleaf - enjoy your day :)
Redruby - hope the call from estate agents is good x

    Morning all

Feeling somewhat more human this morning, good job really as I work 2 long days on Monday and Tuesday and half a day on a Wednesday, then my paid working week is over! (But of course still have home, kids, hubby etc to be keeping me busy). Have roast chicken pieces with roasted veg and rice for dinner tonight - nice and easy when I get in from work. Have meals planned this week so should be able to not shop until Friday but may need small top up of fruit and salad. Only working this week then have 2 weeks holiday to use up so am intending to have big blitz of house, hoping to get stuff on ebay, down to the tip etc.

Have a good day everyone, keep safe and well.

  • Morning all. We had a lovely day yesterday apart from dd falling over on our walk and grazing her lip, chin and knee. I wish she'd put her hands out instead of literally eating the dirt!!! Anyhow she enjoyed the party. One little boy was trying to push a table laden with food and drinks over-his mum was oblivious-so I told him off and you should've seen the look he gave me, I don't think he's used to being told off which is possibly why later he was the reason another small boy was crying. My dd maybe a bit of a nightmare for me but at least she behaves everywhere else.
Going to do dd's packed lunch in a mo. My plan for this morning is a good sortout and a deep clean of the kitchen. I'm planning a frozen diet meal for my lunch-they've been taking up freezer room for at least 2 years so i'm planning to have one everyday this week while dd is at school. We are having either pizza or pasta for tea, whichever dd prefers when she gets in.
I was really pleased with her writing yesterday as well as signing her name on her friends cards she managed ,with only a little prompting, to write both of their names too-6 weeks at school and she's learnt something!
Right, better stop waffling and get on.
    July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.
Myself, DD, 2 cats, 35 weeks pregnant.

I'm just the same - a few years ago I fell over on our way home one night (:o) and ended up with a scraped chin & cheek, gouged forehead & cracked cheekbone....OH told my kids that I'd used my face to save my hands :o:p

    Morning all!

Grey and cold here today, but looks like it might brighten up a bit, will be well wrapped up when I take the dog out in a bit!

OS stuff today is going to involve hoovering, tidying, washing, changing beds and a good old fashioned gossip with a friend - sadly only by phone though as we live a long way apart!

Lunchboxes: cheese rolls, bananas, choc cookies, crisps (and it's not even Friday!)

Dinner: sausage and chips with veg, poss steam sponge pud as it's quick and I think I've only got one egg left!

I'm meeting oh for lunch so will depend what he makes me, or what I find in his fridge! And I'll be having dinner at work tonight, so will prob be soup as I have some left over from last night.

Have a good day all, coffee and catch up when I've done the hoovering at least! xx

    Morning folks...

Monday already? Where did the weekend go?

Off to the bank to deposit the Dublin cash fund I have been saving up for. Saved up over €300 so that's money we don't have to take from my or hubby's reg. bank account :T That should be enough for us for a few days atleast. I haven't been going out much these past few months so really looking forward this 5 day trip to Dublin :D
After the bank I go to work for a bit them home again. Short work week (3 days) thanks to the Dublin trip :T

Have a good day all and for those who need a laugh...have a look here. This made me smile hehe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nfdOsBrFjE

    Good morning guys,

I haven't posted for a while as it has been busy here at chez Smoky but I have been reading through.

Grey and cold out here today so the heating is on and I have LO curled up on the settee with a sore throat and a barking cough. No other symptoms apart from his breathing sounding terrible last night (I woke him at 1 am to cough some of it up!!) I am a bit torn about whether or not to go to the GP as he isn't that poorly but he does sound awful. I will keep an eye on him though and see how he goes on.
It was his birthday yesterday and we had lots of visitors and he had lots of pressies and allthough he was under par he had a lovely day.

The house is ship shape and all jobs up to date (including the hateful ironing pile ) I will spend this morning getting up to date with the spends and doing some letters and phone calls that have built up over the last couple of weeks.

Lunch will be soup for the two of us and for tea I think I will do mince and mash as it will be fairly easy for LO to swallow.

Cranky and George - thinking of you both. xxx

Pen-pin - I hope your ribs are feeling a bit better. xxx

NPM - I hope Noah had a restful night and gets better soon. xxx

Gentle hugs to all else in need today and happy birthday to Ivyleaf.

    Smoky. xxx
