we recieved a tv on saturday from a courier that we didnt order. the item is addressed to us by name and the address is definately ours. no invoice or paperwork was left by the courier so we have no idea who delivered the item. what do we have to do to find out if this item is ours or not?

Welcome to the forums.
No label on the box which might give a clue?
Surely you know the name of the courier firm. Ask them.0 -
my gran was the one who took the parcel in while we were at work and didnt get the name of the courier firm. the labels on the box just have the delivery name and address (ours) no icons that point to either the company the item was bought from nor the courier firm. MEGA confused as to where the bloody thing has come from or what we are expected to do to find out if it was a mistake0

You sure the label doesn't mention the courier, most despatch labels do and or the sender details.0

nope all its got is barcodes sayin sender above one and return address above the other so neither are much use unless can find who the courier is to find out where the tv came from. How long do we have to keep the item encase it was delivered in error? dont have a large house and a 40" tv in a box is not an easy thing to store!!0

Maybe you got this persons tv by mistake.......

Have you opened up the packaging to see if there's a delivery note inside. And while you're at I'd check your online credit card and bank statements as well for any mysterious deductions.0

A 40" TV for £175? That would be a good deal!
OP, if there's no contact information, invoices etc I don't see what you can do. It's possible that once the company who sent it realise the error, they may contact you or ask the courier to call back to collect it - but that could take time. There is a certain time limit (can't remember exactly how long but it's something like 3 or 6 months) - once this passes, if unclaimed the goods belongs to you. If you google unclaimed deliveries or simialr you should find some info about it.
Sounds like storage until this is sorted out could be the biggest issue. Could someone have bought this as a present and not told you yet? Do you have any speical occasions comming up?0 -
we opened the box to check for anything inside all that was inside was the user guide and the usual leaflets and the tv of course lol resealed box have checked all credit cards and bank statements and there are no mysterious charges appearing so havent been charged for the item.
and no one at this address has n e special dates coming up apart from crimbo but no one that we know has bought a tv recently and sent it to us nor have any of our neighbours ordered n e. Well heres hoping if it a mistake that they pick up the item sn as storage is a real pain in the !!!!!! lol0 -

So would a 40" TV for nothing be a good deal, my post was tongue in cheek.
I'm just finding slightly hard to believe that a spanking brand new (I'm assuming it's new?) 40" TV magically appears on someone's doorstep.
The OP couldn't have seen the courier struggle up the garden path to drop the TV at the front door and not leave any paperwork or did the OP see the courier?
If the OP did see the courier why was the question not asked "where has it come from?" or "I did not order that"0
