we recieved a tv on saturday from a courier that we didnt order. the item is addressed to us by name and the address is definately ours. no invoice or paperwork was left by the courier so we have no idea who delivered the item. what do we have to do to find out if this item is ours or not?

It's mine. Sorry about the mix-up. Please forward to PM'ed address

  • If the TV only got delivered on Saturday, chances are that any credit card transaction won't show up until today. I'd be inclined to ring your credit card company OP and query any yet unposted transactions. As neilmcl said, it's possible that the TV has been delivered to your billing address and not to a possible delivery address supplied by a fraudster.

You mentioned there is a return address above yours on the label, have you tried googling that?

I think he implied that the return address was displayed in the form of a barcode, unfortunately.
  • You'd think there would be something to indicate who the supplier was, wouldn't you.

There must be some kind of contact details from the supplier or courier, I can't think of one occasion I have received something by carrier and no mention of the supplier/carrier.

Something not quite right here, does the person who signed for it know the colour of the top the person delivering had on, I asked because if it was yellow and red/its DHL, navy blue top, most probably HOME delivery, mainly used by catalogues etc. Or even the colour of the van would help, as long as you don't say a white transit!

we opened the box to check for anything inside all that was inside was the user guide and the usual leaflets and the tv of course lol resealed box have checked all credit cards and bank statements and there are no mysterious charges appearing so havent been charged for the item.

If you can see the serial number, you could try asking the manufacturer what retailer had that batch, then ring the retailer and ask them to look for the sale on the system.
