if you are using soap/ baby wipes then make sure they are pH neutral (think Dove), as these wont attack the leather like acid/alkaline ones mightknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

Navy blue. hasnt been cleaned for about 6 months or more. Can I use fairy liquid or soap flakes dissolved in warm water? Should I rinse it off afterwards? I have got some conditioning cream which I can put on after cleaning.

hi i work for a furniture retailer and we are now advised to tell customers never use baby wipes as they can damage th coating on the leather over the years just use pure soap flakes to get the worst off
Do you have to rinse after washing though?Ellie

Thanks judyb, I have been cleaning my leather suite with luke warm water & washing up liquid - then wiping it over with a soft cloth containing body lotion found lurking in bathroom and it seems to work alright leaving the leather soft and supple. I hope I'm not inadvertently causing damage to the leather!!0

I've used baby wipes for years. Never ever bought any special creams etc. Cleans and nourishes the leather beautifully.0

i have a black leather sofa its 8 years old and looks brand new. i have tryed everything on the market but i now use hot soapie water and a cloth. then i dry it with a tea towel and its comes up brilliant. i do this about once a month. baby wipes also for any spills or drops of sauce !Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0

I don't have leather furniture, but I do clean my handbags etc with warm soap and water, then dry it and then apply cheap moisturiser - remember that leather IS skin, albeit dead skin. Using moisturiser, or even some baby oil, will keep leather supple and looking great.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
