But what you fail to understand when I'm being sneered at for liking things to be minimal & fit in, is that what you describe above is your theme, but its still a theme.
You like vintage country I like modern, netural & fairly minimal.

Well, it's not really a theme per se, in that I don't actually sit down and plan it out. It's more a sort of loose association of things that I like and that just so happen to go together. I'd never reject something useful and functional just because it didn't fit the country look, for example.

So while I'm not in the least bit critical of your chosen theme, I'm just astonished that you'd be prepared to burn or scald yourself for want of a decent set of oven gloves because they don't look right. Isn't that carrying form over functionality just a bit far?

She is not prepared to burn or scald herself any longer, which is why she looked for oven gloves in a design she liked and she has since purchased them :D

Okay, my error of tenses. But up till quite recently this was the case, no?

I read it as though MrsE had burnt herself using a tea towel and therefore decided that she must buy oven gloves immediately. She then asked for advice on black ones and purchased them before the day was over, thereby not chancing being burnt again.

I did not read it as if she was constantly burning herself as she could not find some to her liking.

Even if she were doing so that is up to her, as is her choice of accessories for her kitchen, the plain decor in her home and dare I say her choice in underwear :rotfl:as she is an adult :D

Yes, definately she's an adult. (41, is that right? ;)) So perhaps she might like to respond for herself when she next logs on, rather than you feeling you need to do it for her? I'm sure you've got the best of intentions, but it might get annoying to have words put into her mouth, no?

I believe she did say 41  although I would not lay my life on it, I'm not even sure why her exact age is relevant. I'm sure she will respond as no doubt she will yet again be somewhat shocked that her preferences and actions are being questioned.

    Who knows though?

The only thing I do feel certain of, is that MrsE will not find me putting the words in to her mouth annoying nor get upset with me:o, I think she would find it more annoying that after people practicaly taking the michael out of her choice in home furnishings and her want of all things matching, that they then start to question whether her needs and wants of a pleasing home were being put above safety and her poor OH's hands :rotfl:

She only asked if anyone knew any good black oven gloves and she is up for questioning :rotfl:

(BTW MrsE-If I have annoyed you by responding in your absence then :o:D)

    Hi everyone,

As this thread has gone way off topic and MrsE has now bought her new oven gloves, I'm going to close the thread.
