So what exactly do the prospective lenders see? Is it just type of account (i.e. credit card/current account), credit/overdraft limit, current balance and date opened?
  • Barclay card say they dont take people with iva,ccj etc have you got one of those in your past?

I know someone who got a card with a 3 year old satisfied £200 ccj 3 years ago.

On my decline letter it states the following.

"When we concider applications, we take into account your financial circumstances, including the information on your application form, and we also make any credit reference or other enquires we concider necssary. Unfortunatly you did not meet the required criteria"

What you do think this means? I earn over 25k, am on the ER.

I am aware that I do have a limited credit history however, previous declines are usually due to credit scoring.

I thought that maybe BC have looked at my Barclays account and seen that I was overdrawn?

    What do you think?

    Cheers

When I applied for the play.com credit card I had to call them to provide more information - they said you've recently opened a bank account at x and y and z and x and y have given you an overdraft for £xxx.

    x y and z being the lenders names :P
  • Yeh and HRMC use experian to identify and they no the lenders names. When I ring up about my tax credits they now identify me by the info on experian like who do I have a bank acc with.

What did you go for the bc intial?

I went for one a few months ago and the only credit I had was a phone contract and car loan in its last of 4 years 9 months I haven't had an o/d for about 3 years and my last credit card was about 6 years ago.

I was accepted and its supposed to be scored higher than capital one classic and vanquis and I got it. Then I got capital one and I don't want/see the point in having the lowest of the low vanquis card. Anyway I pay mine in full eassh month to get my credit up.

I have no o/d on either of my bank accs I have similar income to you but your 5k odd of credit might not help your app if your score is still low.

Someone said they won't give you one if you already have a vanquis card.
    Yeah, it was the Initial....
