That's just rubbish! The majority of Brits living abroad are retired and living on pensions, paying their taxes where appropriate. There are dishonest people in any country but to say that they're a majority is ridiculous.

Nope, can't find where he says the majority, just in similar numbers to people who come here.

It would be interesting to know if the Benefits in Eastern Europe are enough to live on .

I don't know how much the unemployment benefit is here, but I though it is around £70-80 per week. Can you really live on it?????

    If you have children

You and your partner - if you have one - might be able to get Child Tax Credit for your children if:
    • you work in the UK
    • you pay National Insurance contributions as a worker here
    • your child lives in an EEA country or in Switzerland and is living with your partner or someone else and they depend on you to support them
Don't know much about Child Benefit but the info is here:-

If you've come to the UK but your child has stayed behind

There are different arrangements for Child Benefit depending on whether you are working and have come from an EEA country or not. You will still however need to be responsible for your child.
If you have come to the UK from a country that is outside the EEA or Switzerland you can only qualify for Child Benefit once your child actually arrives in the UK.
If however you have arrived from an EEA country or Switzerland, you can usually get Child Benefit even if your child doesn't come to the UK.
