To play devils advocate they are likely complaining about low skill immigrants from 3rd world hell holes with little in common with our culture, thats a bit different from a wealthy old couple buying a villa in spain and paying tourist prices.

Would that be those wealthy old couples who don't integrate, end up creating little British ghettos and price out the locals? I don't think it's that different at all. The only difference is the wealth.

  • Will the spanish be the next poles?

High unemployment , its over what the polish figure is now , perhaps we will have el builders with siestas and tapas replacing the builders tea and greggs pastry.

Up will spring pubs with spanish flags , with beer bellied customers abound , sitting watching spanish sky football , in spanish tops , while eating a full fried spanish breakfast and reading the el mail headlines complaining about how spain is full of immigrants and they are paying taxes for knocked up teenagers in council houses.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I am sure once tax gets hiked that the UKs over population is going to get sorted.

Once eastern europe picks up and we are in the doldrums, watch most of our economic immigrants flock back home.

    You poor deluded little thing.....

UK population is now forecast to increase by 1.9 million people in the next five years alone. Only 900,000 of those are from immigration.

Even if you somehow waved your magic xenophobic wand and banned all immigration, population would increase by a million people in 5 years anyway.

House prices are going through the roof no matter how much you rant about it, and theres not a thing in the world you can do to stop it....

On balance, i would rather have certain categories of immigrants than our own, home grown "white trash".

Is there some kind of mathematical theorem which proves you can tie any thread topic back to the issue of house prices?

It would save a lot of time.....

    Just look around you.

The crash is well and truly over. It is only a matter of when, rather than if, house prices rise back to the late 2007 levels.

Reason for me to leave UK for Germany or France would be: Can buy up to 4 times the size of property in (for example) a German town or suburb with excellent public transport, internet, health system etc. Space for hobbies at last! And all those stress free trips to France, Italy, Spain etc, no more Ryanair (with lousy UK airports and all their rules) just hop in the car with luggage and go.

Yup, even in the Recession UK house prices are so ludicrously high that the possibility of improving your lifestyle abroad (especially in EU) is huge.

I've heard (read in the papers) that if somebody comes here from the EU, they can claim all the family benefits for their families who are still in their originating country.

All this cross border stuff is mad.
ive heard that to, it amazes me.

    Urban myth, not true.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
