I try to stick to 20g a day. And it depends on how good I'm being as to where that 20g comes from.
I usually have an omelette in the morning and some of my day's carbs will be used up in the cheese I add to the omelette. I tend to have a bran cracker thing with it, 2.9g.
Lunch might be a tuna & mayo salad. Carbs in the mayo and small amount for the salad. I tend to make it up as I go along but if anything I over estimate the carb count rather than under estimate.
Tea usually involves chicken and veg of some sort, cauli/broc or turnip chips maybe. I use the carb counter on the Atkins website as a guide.
If I'm being bad, I'll starve all day then get so hungry I'll eat all my days carbs in one bag of peanuts. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
So, how long are you really really good for on a diet before you 'fail'?
Till my next period is due. Every time. I can do 3 weeks then the switch gets flicked.
Edit: Or if something serious has happened and stress levels are through the roof. I think I've been quite good recently though and have been trying to go out for a walk instead of reaching for the junk, so by and large I'd say my biggest problem is hormonal, I can't stop eating then. Nothing is enough and it's actual food I want, not specifically chocolate or sweet things.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Have you tried acupuncture ever? MY SIL had terrible terrible pre-menstrual migraines. Would keep her out of work 2-3 days a month. HAd acupuncture nad it cleared them completely, she felt like a diff person. Might work with other pre-menstrual issues?0

No haven't tried it but did think about it. Maybe I could do a job lot, hypnotherapy, acupuncture, jaw wiring and anything else I can think of.
It's like plucking things from the air a bit, you just don't know what to do for the best but you know you need external help from somewhere. :undecidedHerman - MP for all!0 -

OK - sounds a wee bit more complicated than I'd likeI think I'll just work on not stuffing my face every 5 mins :rotfl: With 2 small kids (not to mention the others I look after) stuff tends to be eaten on the go - haven't really got time to be looking at carb amounts etc.
But thanks for enlightening me:DI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Bitsy, the Idiot Proof Diet doesn't have any carb counting. I never counted when I was low ccarbing. As long as you know the things you can eat that are low carb, you should be fine.0

Alona, I don't know enough about the science. But I would think you're setting yourself up for a fall. I really wouldn't rely so much on Frankenfoods (before anyone shouts at me I know that I am at the moment, but I also eat a lot of veg AND my diet is medically constructed to keep the resting metabolic rate high, making re-entry to real food a lot easier. All the commercially available diet 'food' does not have that advantage. Defensive, moi?
). What kind of exercise do you do? If you are worried about losing quickly I would just up the cardio, and add in some vegetables (at least some green leafy stuff).
What diet are you doing Sarah?0 -
Oh get me...I've been pro-active. :rotfl:
I've emailed a hypnotherapist outlining my issues and asked for advice and info and cost details etc about the gastric band thing AND I've made an appointment with an accupuncturist for Monday.
I will be thin if it kills me or bankrupts me.
I'll be back here on Sunday when my resolve wavers and you'll all need to kick my butt. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
Hiya peeps :hello:
Just thought I'd pop in, you know I can't stay away for long
Interesting discussions going on here, it's got me thinking of trying (again...yawn) to shift some weight. I tried the 'don't think about food & concentrate on home/garden' approach but that didn't workso am thinking about lcing again. Have a family party looming next month & I need a quick fix!! If (& that's a very big IF) I can stick with it for just a few weeks I know it will make a big difference to how I look & feel.
I'm just at the thinking stage for now, next is making a decision, then planning, then buying stuff & by the time I've done all of that the party would have been & gone (& I'd have cried off) & it'll be Christmas!! :rotfl:
alias, I do wonder sometimes if you are me  My hormones have definitely got worse in recent years (always been bad but now they're bloody evil!!) & my life/eating habits seems to be ruled by pmt/motm/totm problems. I do think that I wouldn't stay with me if I had to put up with me, iykwim?!
Anyway, just to update, poor hubby has definitely got appendicitisbut because of the delay in scanning him (don't get me started on that one) some tissue has formed around the appendix but also attached itself to the bowel, which makes it too risky to operate. Instead he's been sent home with boxes of antibiotics & painkillers. He's in pain & can't walk very far at all, so I'm doing everything (actually no change there) and running around after him as well. It's been very stressful & all I want is for someone to run around after me & give me some TLC
And I want a holiday away from here but it seems everything is conspiring against that happening
Aaarrrgggggghhhhhhhhh!!
And breathe.............................................................
Tis good to be back!! :rotfl:0 -
alias, yaay on being pro-active!! :j Good luck with everything, will be interesting to see how you get on0
