I've found that taking a brand new approach and it costing lots of dosh is actually a very good focusser
It's true. Yes, you could cheat with Alizonne. But I actually don't think you would. THe thing with low carb is because you're not actually counting anything you can easily sneak an extra slice of cheese or a handful of nuts, or a few squares of dark choc, when you don't need them, and kid yourself that you are doing the diet properly. THen come weigh day you feel let down by your body. But in fact over a week those little extras do add up and as Eric pointed out, ultimately on any diet it's about fewer calories in than out. Even low carb.
But with Alizonne, your food is very clear. You eat five times a day and anything else is just completely not allowed. It's very clear. Not only that, but your portion sizes are also very clear. Unless you open two sachets, you can't overdo it. I've found that relinquishing of control to be very cathartic.
The hypnotist, if he's good, should be able to help with all these things and more. Is he actually specially trained in food disorders? Or just trying to make money out of overweight people? If he's got a good rep then why not try it? Have you ever been hypnotised? Some people are more suggestible than others.0 -
Yeah I think set rules are easier to follow and you cant just add something extra here and there and set it outta your mind. I also think that when it costs alot of money, it makes your more determined to do it. Again, I'm not 100% sure on hypnotherapy cos I dont know if it would work on everyone...0

Hi alona and welcome. Are you just eating anything upto 600 calories? I have been there myself but restricted myself to about 900 calories a day and it was so hard - I was obsessed with food, and it seemed to take ages to come off.
Have you tried low carbing? I started 3 weeks ago today and I have lost 6.5lbs (yes guys lost another 1/2 pound, so am now 7 '13.5lbs, I really need to stop now but can't - terrified that I will put it all back on before my holiday.)
Anyway, as I was saying - low carb - it really does work and it has just melted off me and I don't even get that hungry or any cravings (chocolate is the strongest craving still but I get around that by having 80% dark choc.)0 -

I did try hypnotherapy once before years ago and the person was an annoying man who made a smacking noise with his mouth when he spoke. I could only hear this noise in my head and I was secretely shouting shut up in my mind so it's not surprising it didn't have the desired effect. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -

Actually, another thought...I tried the Cambridge diet years ago (when I was only 9 and a half stone :rotfl:). It was packet stuff and bars. I cheated.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I wouldn't mind seeing a hypnotist to help me stop smoking - or an accupuncturist.
The thing that puts me off hypnotism is that I am scared they will alter my mind for good and I will no longer be me 100% again if you know what I mean?0 -
There's a few things about me I'd like them to alter for good.
Do know what you mean though.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Hi alona and welcome. Are you just eating anything upto 600 calories?
I've done low carb before but find the results dont stay and I crave carbs when I'm finished.
But I tend to be having a mix and match of the following:
a slim fast shake (make with 1 scoop rather than 2) to allow me to have another if wanted
a low fat yoghurt (approx 100 cals)
go ahead biscuits (approx 150 cals pack)
slim fast choc bar (approx 100 cals)
french fries crisp (approx 100 cals)
slim fast bar (approx 200 cals)
I cant think what else, but as you can see its all types of snack food to keep me going.0 -
Alona, with calories that low your body will go into starvation mode. This means it will get more efficient at surviving on very few calories. When you start to eat normally you will have lowered your resting metabolic rate, your body will think, great! I'm not starving any more! ANd cling on to all the food you're putting in to it. Also I'm worried that there's no veg at all in your diet. Even on Slimfast they say to eat a 'proper' evening meal....
OK Alias, how about something where you have to have weekly weigh ins? Would that motivate you?0 -
Sarah - even if its just temporarily say for 3 weeks then start having a WW evening meal or something?0
