Nope. Done Scottish Slimmers, found it irritating if I'm honest. I know it all in theory, I don't need shown plates of food or weighed by a wee woman who's probably thinking I wish they'd all hurry up so I can get home to watch Corrie. :rotfl:

Doesn't matter who weighs me or where I get my diet info from, it's all useless unless I have the strength/willpower/backbone to put it into practice on a daily basis.

I did try hypnotherapy once before years ago and the person was an annoying man who made a smacking noise with his mouth when he spoke. I could only hear this noise in my head and I was secretely shouting shut up in my mind so it's not surprising it didn't have the desired effect. :rotfl:

I do that too :rotfl: secretly shout or swear in my mind :rotfl:
Oh that so made me laugh.

Alona, I don't know enough about the science. But I would think you're setting yourself up for a fall. I really wouldn't rely so much on Frankenfoods (before anyone shouts at me I know that I am at the moment, but I also eat a lot of veg AND my diet is medically constructed to keep the resting metabolic rate high, making re-entry to real food a lot easier. All the commercially available diet 'food' does not have that advantage. Defensive, moi? :)). What kind of exercise do you do? If you are worried about losing quickly I would just up the cardio, and add in some vegetables (at least some green leafy stuff).

Well Alias, I think we all have our own self-sabotage courses to run, sounds like you're still firmly following yours! I think the key is to lift yourself out of the depressed feeling first. It's only then that you have the strength to get through those first few days of any diet, then you feel better, then you're on your way. But I have no idea how to lift the depression. It's different for different people.

Maybe think back to your happiest time. What things did you do, what hobbies (hate that word) or pastimes really floated your boat? Can you nudge yourself back into them? I used to do all sort of stuff - play guitar, paint - that I don't do now. EVen though my guitar is just hanging on the wall. On the rare occasion that I pick it up I think, wow, this is great. Why did I stop playing (answer: kids)? It can transport me for a whole evening, and take my mind off food and diet and bodies and all that crap.

Well I've found someone in Edinburgh, Perth and Glasgow AND someone in my own hometown who offers this Hypnoband thing.

The ones down south all have websites and have testimonials etc. They say they've had refferals from GP's etc.

The one in my hometown has no website and is very young but has been registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register for 5 years. (As have the others).

    What to do?

Sorry Sarah but I don't agree with you at all here. :D It's not the starting, it's the keeping going that's my problem. I'm depressed because I fail, not because I can't get going.

OK I am curious when you low carb what is the format you use, say a typical daily food intake? My only knowledge (and that's limited) to no carb is the atkins and I couldn't survive that! I know I could head over to the LC thread BUT you guys are so helpful here :o

So, how long are you really really good for on a diet before you 'fail'?
