Hi all, thanks for the welcome!

Am going to give low carbing a go, as its supposed to be good for those of us with PCOS. I will do this in my own way rather than follow a rigid plan I think. I may be misinformed but I can't get my head around eating higher fat items and limited fruit. I'm also dairy free as this helps wtih my acne, in fact cleared it up completely!

I'm away for a long weekend in Cornwall but after that I'm going to cut the alcohol back a much as possible. I will hopefully be able to report some losses soon.

Aliasojo I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling the best. I know what its like and its horrible so I hope it lifts for you soon. Again I found that the evil (but oh so good) white wine can really make my moods worse. Look after yourself and don't put yourself under too much pressure.

    Need help and encouragement

Been going to SW for 18 months, had lost 3 stone, but, 4 weeks ago, went to weigh in, I had been perfect, but, didn't lose anything, I was fed up and have not been good for 4 weeks now, put on about 1 stone - going back this Friday and paying for 12 weeks, but its so disheartening isn't it?

    Morning gang

lovely outside today, shame i`m w*rking later :( you can usually tell my days off as its peeing it down

Yesterday i popped to H&B for more maxitone and saw that their own was still on offer. when i saw the difference in size and the price it was no contest really so i bought it to try, should last me at least a month :D Hope its as filling as the maxitone one as i thought that was ideal.

Must remember to clear al the carp from my browser when i log out shortly, i`ve noticed that all the ads say the word "Maxitone " in them and i`ve been lax in keeping the cache cleared so "they" will know every site that i`ve visited for the past week.
*goes to google images and types in "fit bloke" *:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Anyhow, today will be a long one, woke at 5 and i`m at work until almost midnight so i need some energy to stay awake, my plan is two shakes and a small sandwich, maybe a lowish carb curry later. think that should see me through 19 hours fingers crossed.

Mazzers - Hope that you are much better today

Chipsdog - Its impossible to be perfect and we all stray off the path every [STRIKE]day[/STRIKE] now and then so don`t be too hard on yourself. We are after all only human. Good luck.

    Have a lovely day peeps.

I am doing my own version of low carbing with huge success (103lbs in 21 weeks so far)

I eat lean protein 3 times a day for 3 reasons

    1) protein is an appetite suppressant
    2) if you have protein in your system your body is far less likely to start eating your own muscle / organs for fuel
    3) I avoid where possible saturated fats and totally avoid trans fats. 35% of my calories comes from oil and fats but there all from sources very high in poly and mono unsaturated fats (and omega3) such as oily fish, cold pressed extra virgin rapeseed oil (the most healthy oil, and tasty, you can fry, roast or use it "virgin" on salad, jacket potatoes etc) nuts and seeds etc

doing this has meant that my cholesterol level (4.3) etc is very low, so i am loosing weight and getting healthier, my insulin levels are also very stable in the 4.5-5.7 range through the day which may be the reason why i never get cravings.

I avoid cheese because i was addicted to it, cheese contains opiates and i was totally hooked and its a big part of why i became shamu II :( If you avoid all dairy you need to make sure you are getting enough calcium, if you take calcium supplement it needs to contain magnesium to work.

Alcohol whilst fun is just wasted calories when your trying to loose weight.

Thats good, i used to use a nifty little prog to get rid of the dats but never put it on the netbook as it is boxed up from when we moved, i have years and years worth of discs boxed up with progs on which are near useless now and go back as far as win95 :o Bet the prog i used is no good now as its certainly dated but i`m more that happy to keep using this one for now - especially as its so fast :D

    Thanks again Eric :D

Hi Jen, I have PCOS too and I am hoping to see some benefits from this as well. I am also doing my own version of low carbing, I am trying to eat things that are below 5g of carbs per 100g and considering I was a complete carb-o-holic I have found this not too bad to stick to.
I do eat fruit still though, oranges, strawberries and apples but in moderation.
Does your PCOS mainly just affect your skin?
