Hiya, I'm getting confused by all the informatiuon out there - sorry!
I'm currently a 12-14 (10-12 on top and 12-14 on bottom) and at 5'8 this is a suitable size so I have no issues with being overweight/underweight/off the BMI scale. I understand people struggle to get to this weight and I'm not being ungrateful, I just wish to tone up a bit and drop some lbs for my self esteem!
I am just trying to see what is the best way of dropping my dress size to a size 10? I have tried dieting and exercise in the past and never really saw any results.
I'm not looking for a non existant miracle cure, just looking to see what has worked for other people in the past?
It would be nice to be a slim jim for Christmas ;-) :rudolf:
Thanks in advance! x0 -
I would suggest Slimming World. I've done it and it's brilliant. I really don't understand how you can eat unlimited potatoes, pasta, etc, but it works so I'll not question it too much! For years, I always thought these diet groups weren't for me, but I got so desperate, I gave it a go - best thing I ever did!
Maybe also try some exercise too, it needs to be something that you enjoy or you won't keep it up. I saw an ad on the telly earlier for Fitness First offering a 6 week membership for about £49.50 which includes 3 personal training sessions as well as access to the gym and classes. If there's one nearby, that may be worth a try?
Good luck!Getting older is inevitable, growing up is optional :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon peeps
well its been a really pleasant day so far apart from the weather, i`ve spent the morning browsing through recipes and decided which ones i`m going to make. I`ve decided on the river cottage hearty ale chutney and some piccalilli and i`ve found a good recipe for cornish pastiesDH had made me some cheese and onions on toast and i`ve had half an hour in the garden in between the rain. Its very windy here but the sun has just decided to make an appearance so it looks nice from inside, won`t be venturing out again though unless i decide to pick a few more raspberries later.
Today has been delivery day:j My dehydrator has arrived and i`ve just washed everything and left it to drain, the half price choccies that i ordered from thorntons have arrived and i did get the free continentals too :j also the blood glucose monitor arrived as a freebie from bayer
Alias - Did you get your monitor? I can`t remember the lime thingy so maybe i didn`t send for that one, i forget what i`ve sent for a lot as some of the freebies don`t arrive and some take ages. I was going to test myself on the glucose thingy but Dad wanted it as he doesn`t have one and he`s recently been monitored closely as his levels are all over the place so DH has taken it to give him.
Daisy - Have a lovely weekend - looks fab!
DH has taken Dad to the shops so that i can have a nap so when i`ve finished my cuppa thats exactly what i`ll be doing, not done a great deal today but i`m flagging, i remember that the time was 0222 this morning when i let little oldie out and i`ve not been back to sleep so hopefully when i`ve had an hour i`ll feel better. I`m planning on testing the excalibur later so i`m going to have a read of the booklet that came with it
Have a good afternoon peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Thank you I have tried it in the past but it seems that I can loose between 1 stone - 1 1/2 stone and not drop any clothes sizes - so annoying! I think its because I used to do dancing and the physio says that I still have a high muscle mass..?
I do 5x 30 mins power walking every week and also am fairly active as part of a sports team (training for minimum 2 hours a week and a match of an hour) so perhaps I could up this and increase weight training.
Thanks very much for the input!x0 -
Probably the best (and cheapest) diet I found is the Special K diet. One bowl of cereal in the morning, a low fat cereal bar or piece of fruit mid morning, cereal for lunch, low fat cereal bar or fruit for mid afternoon snack and balanced meal for dinner (i.e. grilled chicken, jacket potato and salad). I say cheapest as I've done a lot of diet and found this one the best and cheapest as long as you buy the supermarkets own version of special K (sorry but Kellog's at £3.78 a box is too expensive!). Couple that with walking 10,000 steps a day and some callanetics exercises for leaner hips, stomach and bum (you'll find the exercises on youtube) and it works. I'm doing it again after a lapse ( a big one!) and have lost 8lbs in 2 weeks. Cost for two weeks (buying extra cereal and the cereal bars again I buy supermarkets own) is about £7. Which is less than the slimming classesCC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Why not ask the physio for their professional recommendation as they will have all of your physical details to hand (since you will be there)?Today is the first day of the rest of your life0 -
Thanks I might try the Special K one if I don't get on with the Slimming World again!Bean_Counter wrote: »Why not ask the physio for their professional recommendation as they will have all of your physical details to hand (since you will be there)?
Soooo that's why I'm seeing what is the best ones out there to supplement this advice!0 -
It's hard to know what to suggest without knowing in detail what you do, but why not mix up your training in case your body is coming used to your routine. You say you do weights, so mix up the weights programme and get your body out of its comfort zone. If you have a trainer at the gym ask them. If you run, don't just run at the same speed along the flat. Mix up some hill runs or sprints. Maybe try some different activities such as swimming. Ask your squad mates what they do outwith your chosen sport and see if fancy something different.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0
