I`m really wanting an actify as well but have read allsorts about them and been put off as well.

I`ve had my mouse hovering over the buy button a few times now and always bottled it imagining the new kitchen going up in smoke :rotfl:

I wish i could find some reviews of the later models by peeps who have had them over 12 months but i can`t seem to find anything but the older ones where they were all going up in smoke.

    SD

mines one of the first ones and has been used 200+ times with no issue so far, Watchdog had to remove 2 safety devices to make one go up in smoke as they could not get it to fail. Even when they had done that the amount of smoke that came off it was the equivalent of a large candle being put out constantly, they wont catch fire.

They have been redesigned since the initial model, the stirring arms are different now as well.

Has anyone seen a Dr about weightloss? I am 20, I feel 'depressed' about my weight. I am disgusted by myself naked and just the state of me in general. My boyfriend is so very reassuring. I must be about 19stone and 5'4. I hate hate hate hate the way I look. I'm too scared of scales, and I try to lose weight but my willpower stops somewhere along the line and I have no idea. I'd love to waltz into topshop one day and just buy something beautiful.

The NHS via your Dr apparently have a support program to help you.

I promise you this, if you can go 2 weeks without eating processed food, pies, sausages, crisps, snacks, pizza, bread, cola, choccy, sweets and stick to natural whole foods, lean proteins and low GI whole grain cereals etc (wheatabix / oatibix etc) you will detox yourself and feel 10 times better at the end.

I refused to get on the scales for years because I suspected I was quite heavy. When I actually weighed myself, I was in fact heavier than I had thought () but I needed to know. Until I found out that number, I could just dismiss the issue. Knowing I was in fact overweight and not just 'probably' pushed me into taking control.

I have a wii fit, so I weight myself everyday now. It means I know when my weight is actually going up/down and when it's just a temporary fluctuation due to the time of the month, bad tummy, etc. I understand my body better and respect it more by not feeding it as much crap as I used to.

I began by gradually cutting out the crisps, choccy bars etc that I pigged on at lunch and then swapped certain items for smarter choices (e.g. big sandwich on white bread for small homemade soup). It's hard at first, but do it slowly and you'll get used to it. You just need a bit of willpower to get you going, but I promise it gets easier quickly.

If you have a lot to lose, I would recommend making an appointment with your GP to come up with a realistic plan to take control and start losing weight. It may be the tiny little nudge you need.

Went through my log and despite having some fat days in July where I felt really quite heavy, it's a loss of 5 1/2 lb!:) I need to lose another 3 to hit my BMI of 25, so August may well be the month when I stop being overweight. Am quite excited at that thought, actually. :D

:j Well done on the 5+1/2lbs off & good luck with the next 3 to lose!! I'm trying to get into the overweight category :o

Just got home, had a great time, was lovely to meet everyone, even allowed some pics to be taken ;)

That's a lovely photo mazzers, you really suit your hair like that, makes you look younger :D

    Hows SW going sweet?

Weigh-in tonight _pale_ I'm a wee bit apprehensive to say the least!! :rotfl: Went waaaay over my syns on Friday & Saturday due to having guests to stay & drinking far too much :o It doesn't look too bad if you add all the syns up over the week though *grasps at straws*

The booze will be flowing too and i can have wine on SW rather than voddie on LC.

It's better for me (on Extra Easy) to have gin & slimline tonic (4 syns) rather than red or white wine (8 syns). I don't know about the other plans on SW though. I drank 32 syns on Friday night with white wine & 'only' 12 on Saturday with G&T. Would imagine voddie is about the same syn count as gin??

    Morning peeps :hello:

marrow, that 'French' book sounds familiar, do you remember badger?? Think she tried that after stalling on LC??
Like the sound of the piri piri SW chips, will give that a go. Not sure about the chilli icecream though :rotfl:

teabythesea, some good advice from Eric & donquine, good luck & keep posting with your progress or asking for advice, it does help :)

I'll try & post later with the result of my weigh-in, gawd my stomach's churning just thinking about it _pale_ & I'll post some typical menus as well (or not if I've gained :o).

Happy days everyone, have a good day

Allbythesea - I just wrote a loooooong post then managed to delete it. *swears*
I saw my GP about my weight and she was really helpfull. Just starting to do something about it seemed to take a weight off my shoulders (excuse the pun!). She gave me a referral to my local leisure centre (I also had depression so this was a treatment to increase endorphins and hopefully lose weight too), but there are lots of options. The important thing is to have support so that when you have a blip (we can all tell you about those :o) you don't get disheartened and give up. Keep posting!

Sweet - All the best at SW tonight. Do you still get a fridge magnet if you are slimmer of the week? I still have one that says "if it's to be it's up to me!" So cheesy, always makes me smile. :)

I lost 1+1/2lbs this week :j I'm really surprised because of my booze-fest at the weekend, was worried I'd have put on, phew!! :rotfl:

So, now that I know I haven't gained, this is what I've been eating:

Brekkies - Shredded wheat bitesize with fruit & yoghurt or just yoghurt & fruit or bacon/fried egg/mushrooms/beans with bread

Lunches - spaghetti hoops or beans on toast or quiche & couscous or mash & beans

Main meals - quiche & potatoes, quorn sausage pasta, cajun turkey & chips, chilli & baked spud, fish & mushy peas from the Magpie in Whitby

Snacks/extras - Aldi or H&B crackers with cheese triangles & tomato, loads of fruit salad, yoghurts.
Several glasses of white wine or gin & slimline tonic over the week :o

All the main meals are full of veg - onions, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, celery, courgette, tomatoes etc.

    Think that's all.

Lol, I like the sound of that fridge magnet but no, we get a hamper of goodies for slimmer of the week. Alas, it wasn't me this week so I don't know exactly what goodies are in there, maybe next time!! :rotfl:
