Its not mostly meat, you must have vegetables and salad too, you can also have fish remember.
You can make crustless quiche, (Mercys mexican fudge) boiled eggs, cheese salad, tuna salad, salmon salad, shellfish, lc lasagne, lc chilli, lc curry (meaty i know, but you could make veggie versions) all on recipe page, you just need to be organised :)

I have been having my veg and salads too.

Confession though I am not a great fish lover apart from tuna (tinned or fresh) or cod or pollack. And I can't stand shellfish.

I am happy that our normal evening meals can be tweaked to lc it's the snacks that are getting me.

Will have a look at the crustless quiche :D

Bitsy carrots have lots of carbs in them so i would choose something else to satisfy any hunger pangs.

I like to keep some cooked things in the fridge to snack on and its usually things that can be eaten on the go like a lump of cheese or salami or cooked cold sausages or chicken drumsticks.

That way i don`t eat anything that i shouldn`t. If i didn`t do this i would be awful and never get my bod into ketosis and the cravings would always be there.

I used to have two sugars in tea and coffee but now don`t have any at all, i gradually reduced the amount each time that i had a cup until it wasn`t worth bothering with - didn`t think that i would ever be able to change this habit as i`ve always had two spoons all my life.

I love the fruit teas, if you need something sweet try twinings strawberry and mango fruit tea-its lovely, the honey, and vanilla chamomile is too but not as sweet. This solves my dozens of cups a day problem as i have to have milk in ordinary tea and thats not allowed for me yet as i`m doing atkins and am on induction atm for the first two weeks. Alternatively try decaf coffee with cream as cream is good for lcing but not the caffeine.

    Good luck

Sweet, i used fresh ginger, but also made it without any, cant say it made a lot of difference, dried should be fine :)

Its so lush, you'll be wanting it all the time.

Ta, I can't wait!! I'm just making it for me, hubby is off curry atm, so will only use one chicken boob.

Small knob of butter in a non stick pan, with the grated cauli chucked in. The butter melts but because it's only a little bit, it really only coats the cauli slightly, it's not like it's being fried in it iyswim, it looks dry - like there's nothing there but cauli.

Ta for that, I don't usually do small knobs of butter :o but I'll give it a go :D

I do it over a medium heat...too high and it burns quickly, too low and it just doesn't seem to cook.

    No pressure then!! :rotfl:

I don't know if you all remmeber but I used to hate salmon? Well I'm now very fond of salmon, smoked haddock and cod all dry pan fried and flaked (fish pie pack from the Co-Op or Tesco has a wee bit of all 3 in) and then mixed in with the cauli. Wee bit cream mixed through it and tis very nice and very filling.

Yaay, sounds delish!! Will be trying that.
You could also make it into a fishpie. Use creme fraiche instead of the cream, mix it all together, cover with cauli mash & grated cheese & bung in the oven for approx an hour.

Don't forget the low-carb recipe page is on the low-carb thread, not this one, I keep forgetting as well!! :D

Who said it wasn't hot yet?! I'm just back from the co-op & believe me, tis hot!! Came back with a red face again, not quite as red as yesterday, more scarlet than brick!! :rotfl:

Just had my omelette & I'm going to have a coffee then go on the wii fit plus for 30 mins.

Good luck to those peeps working in the garden today, rather you than me!!

Bitsy i dont like shellfish either.

If your only limiting carbs, i think it's harder as anything over 50g ( i think) keeps cravings going, if you cut them down lower you dont get cravings, honest.
So how come i havent stuck to it then eh?
It's because if i go out with friends for a meal, its difficult to keep carbs low, some places dont offer more veg instead of spuds or chips, and once i have a taste, i'm on the slippery slope, as the cravings are back :(
This has happened lots of times in the past, i've told friends i'm not eating out for a while.
Also, going on holiday knocks me back as it's a carbfest when i'm away :D

Bitsy, are you using any kind of low carb guide? I'm concerned that you may be sabotaging yourself inadvertently - carrots are a no-no on low carb.

Well i`m in and out like a yoyo, its baking now, i spoke too soon earlier but the breeze is till there - just, i`m tackling the jungle in the greenhouse so you can imagine the temperature in there and the sight of me now lol

Bitsy if you need something to read i`ve read both the Dr Atkins original book and The Idiot proof diet, the IPD was a more entertaining read but Atkins is easier for me. Once its explained the book will motivate you i promise.

Cooled off now, back outside for a bit:D

Thanks Guys, I still want to lose another 25lb - sounds alot when you say it in lbs!

I've been quite strict, I've had the odd treat but made up for it on the exercise bike.

I wanted to lose another 11lb before holiday but only 3 weeks left so not gonna meet that target.

The main thing I need to do is keep up the exercise bike I think.

ill see your 25lbs and raise you 142lbs ....

    want to swap :D

Lol, if I could lose 7lb a week I would

If I lose 2lb a week, I'm looking about 3 months I think, just in time for V festival! :T
