Actually, my cat's poo's don't smell that bad! I have a hooded litter tray and It's not that smelly when you lift the lid off, unless one of them has literally JUST had one and it's not dried up. Think they have about 2 a day each, ALWAYS during the night, it's kinda hard to tell how many poops they have had as they kick it all about and it breaks up - Nice :)

I never knew cats liked Mango chutney and jalfrezi, he does clearly!
    that creased me up!

i may be guilty of using my cat as a hoover for whatever i drop while cooking, he doesnt seem to mind!!

i have a cereal dispenser for my cats dried food which is currently filled with a small bag of applaws, small bag of hi life and topped up with asda tiger, and he gets a pouch of whiskas once or twice a week. he picks out the hi life and applaws and eats the tiger  he'll only eat the good stuff when theres nothing else left in the bowl and he is absolutely starving!

Mine only does one a day, it's neat and doesn't smell at all even when you lift the lid off the hooded tray (only a little when you scoop to flush). Compare that to a semi-splat that stank the whole room and it's a big change! As I say I was warned about smelly poos yet I am still using the same litter.

There is some evidence that cats (and humans) can get 'addicted' to carbohydrates as they release happy hormones in the brain. Might be why he likes the Tiger? May I ask why you are diluting the highest quality dry food (Applaws) with the lowest quality (Tiger)? Would it not be cheaper/ easier/ healthier to buy a mid-priced one?

it was what he was being fed before i got him, and cos he likes it so much i think its a shame to stop him eating it :) when i i refill the bowl he goes straight to it, and when he's eaten all the tiger out of it he mopes around looking all sad eyed at me and howls whenever i go near the kitchen, bless him! at least by mixing in the good stuff he is getting something good, even if it is begrudgingly on his part!

How does Iams figure in this debate? I am using this as I can buy it in tesco and it has better nutritional values than all the other dry foods they sell.

I also gave either a pouch of felix or a tin of hi life on alternate nights to help keep the costs down.
  • Iams used to do some horrific testing on animals - there are still some disturbing PETA videos on youtube. I asked VetUK why they started selling Iams again for this reason and they told me they were fully aware of the past, and had stopped selling Iams once they were made aware. They stated that Iams had since cleaned up their act and were now comliant and supposedly no longer harming animalss so agreed to start selling their products again.

It may be the case but i was put of Iams for life sadly - i saw the videos by accident, i wish i hadn't.

Nutritionally they seem to be ok though;)

i think iams is a swear word on here :rotfl:

i think there is a debate about them testing their products in less than ethical ways, but i may be wrong

    ETA ah, cross posted!!
